12 travelers, 8 days, and 1 unforgettable week in Greece 🇬🇷💙

When we planned this trip, the goal was simple: show that life after stroke can still be big, bold, and full of adventure. After the last group trip I hosted to Bali I knew I wanted to do it again and decided that this time we would tackle Europe.

🏛️ We climbed the Acropolis TOGETHER. Step by step, cane by cane, cheering each other on until we were standing face to face with the Parthenon. I’ll never forget that view or the faces of this crew when we made it.

⛴️ We conquered the ferry from Athens to Santorini. Ramps, crowds, luggage, sea legs... we figured it out as a team.

⛵ We set sail on a catamaran, soaked up the sun, rain, and explored the black sand beaches of Santorini.

🌅 We wandered the whitewashed streets of Oia, with its blue domes, winding paths, and those famous views. Not the easiest terrain for us, but we explored it our way and every step was worth it.

🍷 We sipped our way through a Santorini wine tour (purely for research, obviously).

💃 And we danced to ABBA in Santorini nightclubs, ate, and walked our way through Athens and Santorini, experiencing as much of the local culture as we could, and learning Greek along the way. 😉Souvlaki, moussaka, feta, wine, sunsets, 🔂

To every survivor and caregiver who said yes to this trip: thank you for trusting me, for showing up for each other, and for proving that a stroke doesn’t get to decide how big your world is. And to my mom for being right there with me through all of it. 🥹💜

This trip was huge because it was was the first time in Greece and in Europe for many of the trip’s travelers, and It will NOT be the last. 👀✈️ So where are we headed next? Lol
Onward! 💪

From New York to Alabama and now Greece @maddistrokeofluck knows how to bring the community together all over the world! This trip was my first international venture post stroke where I was challenged with a 7 hour time difference, 9 hour flight, conversing in a new language I’m learning, navigating a hike up the Acropolis on marble tiles, a ferry ride to Santorini, and walking volcanic sands on the beach. This was proof that with proper planning, preparation, and support you can achieve amazing things! Onto my next challenge or as Maddi says, “Onward!” #strokesurvivor

If you’d have told me nine years ago that after my stroke, I would travel with a group of survivors to Greece, I wouldn’t have believed you. 🇬🇷

But here we are and so amazing to be able to experience a new place together with a group of survivors who understand the journey. Together, we are stronger and we are not letting our strokes stop us from living life to the fullest. In this video, I am walking to the vineyard in Santorini for a wine tasting with my survivor friends. More Greece content to come once I get a second to slow down and post more. Excited for more adventures to come. Onward! 💪
