Excited to see the second episode of ‘Big Half: More than Miles’ now live on YouTube.

In the second episode of the three-part series, @solestriders very own @mona.aaa_ takes us around the streets of East London, sharing the inspiration behind building an all-female running collective focused on friendship, connection and community.

Have a watch to hear Mona’s story and find out why The Big Half means so much to her and to Sole Striders.

"I just want people to have a great time".

Anyone who has met @mona.aaa_ knows this is true! ✨

A NHS nurse who originally found running as a escape from the pressures of her work, Mona went on to meet her best friend @najma.abdix at a running club.

Realising there was a gap in the London running scene for people that looked like them, the pair co-founded @solestriders - an all-female running collective focused on building friendships and empowering women in movement. And from there, the crew have been mainstays at running events across the capital. 💜

Self-described as East London to her core, Mona's first running event was the Big Half, which she took part in alongside her best friends. Fast forward to now, she is still doing the same. 👟

Finding community. Finding friends. It's what the Big Half is all about. 🙌🏿

Hackney Half 2026 🩷
A special one as I did my first ever 5k at a Hackney back in 2017 and didn’t think I could ever do the 21.1k, 8 marathons later here I am … vibing through Hackney post Boston with the girlies. Alhamdulillah.

Amazing how the same city I love had hate marches on a Saturday and then an epic race on a Sunday.

Thank you to everyone who cheered for us. The Crews at Mile 8, Mile 10, Mile 12 and especially our girls Idil, Layla and Rumana!

Happily do Hackney all over again (at the community price though 😂)

See you at my sisters Eid run! iA.

Trust the process!

20 weeks of hard graft and I’m now a marathoner.

Those of you on the course, who cheered, supported and hyped the runners, it wouldn’t have been possible without you.

Yesterday the weather was painfully hot but getting to that line was the name of the game.

Would I go again- Hell Yeah

But until then we sleep

Last weekend, we had the pleasure of hosting a London Marathon Community Activation with @newbalancerunning & @reprunners

In the lead up to the marathon, this was the perfect event to come together as a community and for the runners to focus on recovery ahead of the big day
