WHY PREVIEW 🤔🟠🔵❓

Seeing 50+ students burst through the doors at 8:30 AM and scream was not on my bingo card. I was tired, stressed from a long drive, and worried that I would miss some minute detail during Preview that would ruin my upcoming 4 years as a Gator. Yet, strangely enough, the enthusiasm from the staffers built in me some confidence that it would be alright. As I went through the day, staffers from all across would answer my questions, point me to the right direction, and help me to feel as though I was already a part of the wonderful fold that is attending the University of Florida. From then on, I knew I wanted to do something just like that: help incoming freshman feel just a little bit better about themselves when they walk through those steps like I did. I chose Preview because I hoped that by someone seeing me do their best and succeed at it, they would believe they could do the same if not much more.

With that, I applied, and very fortunately I became of the 55 best and brightest! I am proud to say this was one of most fulfilling and fun involvements I’ve had the pleasure to be a part of. I have made so many new friends and found connections with people across the diverse pool of student experiences that I can truly appreciate and build with even years from now. Those corny little jokes we told in small groups, nights eating BJ’s pizookies (not sponsored), birthday celebrations, and vibes at the pool will reflect in mind positively forever.

Further, I’m so glad I could be a part of the positive memories in the minds of freshman and transfer students. Seeing students’ demeanor gradually change after starting to feel a little more comfortable and welcome here made every long day and late night worth it. The leadership experience I’ve gained as well is invaluable. What other job can train you to be creative, lead large numbers of students, accommodate all sorts of people and backgrounds, build a humongous network of support, and inform guests on so many areas other than living the tradition that is Preview? In so many ways, Preview has given more than I could ever ask for. I have two words to end off: thank you. Until next time…👀

As summer comes to an end, PREVIEW feels more and more like a home I’ll never be able to go back to. A family that won’t be strangers anytime soon.

I’m sitting in my bed tearing up while writing this because everything really did come to an end. The early mornings, the rushing, the dancing parking spots, the inside jokes, the random BJ’s runs, all of it. But that doesn’t mean I won’t find a way to bother all of you at any moment hehe. I can’t wait to turn the Hume Hall dorms into an apartment run or dance on our way to class. We’ll take what we can get.

Thank you to all of the incredible staffers I got to meet and grow closer to. It is insane how 55 of us, all so different, were able to come together and create something so impactful. I can’t wait to continue building the skills I learned through this program. Especially those clifton strengths that helped me learn so much about why I act the way I do!

Thank you to our wonderful pro staff who kept this program afloat. Thank you to our coords for treating us with respect and helping us grow into the staffers we always dreamed of becoming. Thank you everyone. I truly wouldn’t have been able to do it without you.

I can’t wait to see how our cohort continues to evolve during our time here at UF. This isn’t goodbye. UF has given me more than a girl could have imagined, can’t believe I got to give back to it in this way.

Cheers to new beginnings, friendships, community, and all of the things that make PREVIEW so special.

What’s up! My name is Alejandro and I’m majoring in political science with a minor in math. I’m a bit of a nerd so I like learning about the world. I also love anime (shout out to Hunter x Hunter). I’m an Olympic weightlifter, and going to the gym and focusing on my health is important to me.
