Happy International Women’s Day! Today we celebrate the strengths and achievements of women throughout history 🧡

On Friday we welcomed Eleanor Peres @mone____studio an Associate Architect at @sibling_architecture to our office to share her experience working in architecture, designing sustainably and her contiguous creative endeavours.

At Carter Williamson more than half of our team are women with women comprising two thirds of our management team. We are acutely aware of the importance of providing safe and inclusive spaces for women to thrive in all stages of their lives.

This means having diverse project and internal teams, giving women tools to lead in all stages of a project, and helping them in their journey to registration as architects, should they choose this path. We have transparent discussions about flexible working hours and leave whether this is to pursue a side project, teaching opportunity or family commitment.

By supporting the women in our team, we hope to help set a precedent for what being in practice can look like, and to keep learning about how to improve.

Some tiles that I made for a project with my friend @saucingrocks. Eleanor was redesigning the interior of her Darlinghurst studio. We wanted the tiles to act as moments or small paintings throughout the space. They were made to sit within the more structured surface by @academytiles_madeinjapan 💚 Loved working on these and love how they look in the most beautiful green home.

Thank you to all those who stopped by our Issue 01 launch on Friday night, and to all those who could not attend - we missed you! We gathered under a laden hills hoist, between the swaying sheets printed with our contributor's work. We drank, ate scones, and warmed up our backyard.

To all of our friends, loved ones, advisors, collaborators, constributors, supporters, readers - we are so energised by the community building around Paradise and we can't wait to do more.

See you at the next launch!
