Lo que comenzó con la invitación a unas conferencias por parte de la Universidad de Bonn en 2023, ha culminado en una contribución en un libro llamado “La construcción de la identidad en el retrato”. En este caso, se trata del autorretrato, un género en sí mismo en el que destacan tres artistas puertorriqueñas admirables, en especial, en el medio de la fotografía: @brendacruz_art @monicafelix y Anabel Vázquez Rodríguez.
Ha sido -y es siempre- un honor trabajar con ellas en este proyecto sobre la construcción de la identidad en el autorretrato fotográfico. Les agradezco, como siempre, el apoyo en el proceso, la generosidad con su tiempo y su colaboración, y el diálogo continuo que es tan importante a la hora de interpretar una obra de arte.
Gracias especialmente a la editora del libro, Helen Boessenecker, por su detallado y esmerado trabajo, y a la editorial Ad Picturam, por acoger con entusiasmo este proyecto, en el que el arte puertorriqueño tiene un espacio más en el que destacarse.

“Time is relative, but it’s also irrelevant.” 🙏🏼🦀🎂 Yesterday marked the personal year past on Planet Earth and another trip around the Sun. Annual gift of the day-off-the-internet, annual day after awash in warmth 💐Grateful for all the love and light incoming from y’all, for the lessons, adventures, creations, risks and rewards of the last 12 months. For my peoples holding me up, holding the mirror, holding each other. For my wife side by side on this interstellar vessel, continuing to grow together, being my teacher, my bestie, mi amor infinito ❤️The storm stifled beach plans, but the rains subsided and we caught some beautiful musical vibes, delicious eats and hilarious comedy. Even managed to bask in a little Golden Hour glow crossing the street☀️ I think a lot about time these days. How it slows, hastens, collapses, stretches. How it’s measured in construction, destruction, writings, recordings, wrinkles, aches, wounds, healing. Filled with memories, spirits, possibilities, fantasies, distractions, actions. How it’s wasted, coveted, stolen, treasured, commodified, granted. How it flies and drags. How it’s both entirely out of our control and the thing subject to our every decision. All that to say… how lucky I feel to be here still, with more understanding, compassion and self-knowing than a year ago, new works out in the world and in the chamber, and next challenges and levels ahead of me awaiting. 718 to Omega! 💫
