In his early career, the young @patmgo (of @lazysuzy__ and @monobeefbar) would catch the attention of two culinary legends, Florabel Co and Jessie Sincioco, before landing a backbreaking stint in the kitchens of Makati Shangri-La—all done with barely a peep of complaint. “I guess in any room, I feel like I’m there to learn,” he says. “You learn so little if you react before absorbing.”

Finally had the chance to try @monobeefbar at @thegridfoodmarket in Powerplant Mall! 🤤🤤🤤

This is the 48-hour Roast Beef set, with Sweet Soy Garlic sauce. Served with plain rice, onsen egg, shiitake miso soup and two kinds of mini side dishes. The beef is soft, flavourful and goes well with the sauce they recommended! And the onsen egg made it more decadent.

I wasn't able to take a video but as a noodle lover, I knew I had to try their stir fried noodles - the noodles were bouncy, and coated with beefy goodness, and kind of addictive 😋 🍴 definitely must come back.

Mono Beef Bar is in stall number 6 at the The Grid in Powerplant mall.

disclaimer: the 35-minute wait was on a sunday lunchtime which i think is the busiest time of the week in powerplant, and we were aware that we will be waiting for that long ‼️

overall, it’s good flavor- and quality-wise, and i really loved the shiitake miso soup. i will most likely opt for a different option given the many choices from the grid though, but i’m glad to finally try it to experience firsthand what people have been raving about!

Enjoyed this a little too much. Tender torched Wagyu beef over rice with a sauce of your choice and a side of mushrooms, pickles, and really good miso soup was actually everything I needed to cap off a long week.

Will come back for the Mega Mono next time!

I’ve been fortunate to be part of building a lot of different things, and one thing I’ve learned is that building is only the beginning. The real challenge is keeping everything moving understanding the numbers, solving problems, improving systems, leading, learning, and growing together.

It’s been hard, messy, exciting, and incredibly rewarding. Grateful for the people, the lessons, and everything it took to get here.
