This weekend I had the pleasure to participate in the inaugural Outdoorsmen Conservation Festival in Squamish, BC; a mere 45 minutes from my house. This type of event doesn’t come so close to home often so I was tickled that such an initiative would put down roots just up the Sea to Sky Hwy.

Thank you to event organizers Travis, Matt & Shelby. Your vision and commitment to building community while inviting the non hunting or hunting curious folks into the fold was a brilliant way to encourage engagement. Breaking new ground like this takes courage, grit and a wholehearted dedication to what you’re wanting to achieve.

I felt honoured to have been one of the guest speakers, taking the stage with other leaders in the conservation community, Mark Hall, Heidi Stout and Dan Gates.

The vendors, the live music, the food and beverages all came together perfectly at Loggers Lane, an incredible space to bring people together.

I was there also representing @nsfishandgameclub, hoping to encourage membership as we seek to grow not only our numbers as a club but our impact on the North Shore and lower mainland to advocate for our hunting and fishing heritage.

It was a full on weekend with countless hours of preparation in front of it, followed by happy hearts, hopeful for another year to connect, learn, build, advocate and grow.
