POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Over the past several days, we’ve introduced the law students who will lead @ohiostatelaw BLSA through the 2026–2027 academic year.

Together, we are:

Chase Moore — President
Sydney Vance — Secretary
Darren Williams — Treasurer
Morgan Frye — Professional Development Chair
Laila Lowe — Programming Co-Chair
John Harrington — Programming Co-Chair
Kailynn McDonald — Social Chair
Liya Yared — Service Chair

This year carries special significance. Established in 1976, our chapter celebrates 50 years of leadership and legacy.

Fifty years of Black law students building community.
Fifty years of advocacy, excellence, service, and belonging.
Fifty years of students creating space for themselves…leaving more room for those coming behind them.

We’re honored to be part of that story and ready to write the next chapter.

2026–2027. Celebrating 50 years of leadership & legacy.

Come celebrate with me! We have over 100 social impact leaders participating in Monday’s Coaching (messyroots.org/coachingclinic)!

These are record breaking numbers!

At a time when some leaders may feel overwhelmed with everything, they still trust in the power of coaching!

Our facilitators are ready to develop the participants and research driven coaching practices with proven results! #leadership #coach #development

Chase, I cried almost the whole concert 😭(the older I get , the more I appreciate the little things)JUST GRATFUL🙌🏽💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾🥲(like the Saints usta say, ain’t nobody gotta do nothing for you!)
I had to tell You thank you ,for the Kim Burrell ,City Winery concert tickets. A TIME WAS HAD❣️ I always share post & reels with my children, niece’s & nephews… family ! This day I sent a post of Kim Burrell in concert and commented I wanted to go, well not 10 minutes later I got a text from my nephew Chase saying “find someone to go with” mind you I didn’t open the message. BUT WHEN I DID , to my SURPRISE there was 2 tickets for the concert. I called him but he was in class, then I called Britney to asked if the tickets was real. She said YES and invited herself to go w/me😂Thank You NEPHEW 🙌🏽it was AMAZING. I had to post to remember this day and how You made me feel.@mooretolife

People pay good money for wisdom like this.

BLSA’s Local Legends panel delivered leadership as service, strategy as problem-solving, and the courage to move.

Donna James reminded us we’re never alone, and we’re not meant to go alone. Build the muscle for ambiguity and step boldly.

Staying with me:
• “Confidence isn’t about what you know; it’s knowing you can figure it out.”
• “You don’t know how good you are until you’re forced to dig deep and find out.”

Huge thanks to the speakers + Scott Seward + BLSA for a transformative experience.

Black students. Black lawyers. Black leaders. Black dealmakers.

As grades come in, I’m reminded that they don’t define my first semester of law school.

What defines it is this:
I showed up.
I stayed.
I finished what I started.

This fall was evidence—evidence that I was present, that I endured, that I kept going even when it was hard and confusing and uncomfortable. I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.

As I type this, I’m getting emotional thinking about all that this semester required of me—and all the love that carried me through it. From family, loved ones, peers, upperclassmen, alumni, mentors, and every community I belong to… I felt supported in ways I’ll never forget.

At the beginning, everything felt exciting and new. And then reality set in. Around weeks 6–7 😭 I really thought I had made the wrong decision. I had a whole crash out moment and wanted to bow out. But I knew this: even if I didn’t understand what was happening, I owed myself the commitment to keep showing up.

So I did.
Even when I was confused.
Even when I was tired.
Even when I doubted myself.

Side note: I talked to my grandma several times this semester, and she reminded me that we don’t always have to understand God’s plans—we can rest in knowing that He will carry us through. And He did.

I don’t know all that the future holds, but I do know this: I’m going to keep showing up. Showing out. And creating daily evidence of God’s faithfulness in my life.

More reflections and recaps to come—but for now, I’ll say this:

Ya boy made it.
And ya boy did well. 🙌🏾

Onward and Upward.
🙏🏾 Grateful beyond words.
