Zoe Burton 🇬🇧
🏅The Route in partnership with @veloviewer Finisher

As a Paediatric Anaesthetist at @sheffieldchildrens Hospital, Zoe sees first-hand the bravery of children facing leukaemia. Last summer, the fight came closer to home when her niece, Clemmie, was diagnosed with leukaemia.

Driven by Clemmie’s resilience and strength, Zoe has raised an incredible £16,000 to support other children facing the battle against blood cancer.

✅ Stage 9 - Nice>Nice
📍 x4 Col d’Eze ‘Mountain’ stage
🚴‍♀️ 84km
⛰️ 1860m

Yesterday we rolled into Nice 🥵, still don’t quite have the words… so enjoy the pics for now!

We have raised over £252k for Cure Leukaemia & I’m almost at my 10k target, it’s not too late to donate, the link is in my bio 💛

As our team head into stage 7 today, which will see them finish at the summit of Mount Ventoux (the first time it's every been in the Tour de France Femmes!) they're so close to hitting their goal of £250,000 for Cure Leukaemia.

Can you help them reach their target before they cross the finish line in Nice on Saturday?

Link in bio if you'd like to donate to help push the team to the finish, but more importantly help children battling blood cancer ❤️

THE ROUTE: DAY 5 🇫🇷 🍇

A very HOT 🥵 lumpy, beautiful day!

If we weren’t ascending, we were descending! The melting tar was popping under our tyres as the heat rose up from the road.

We drank loads…..I had around 6 litres on the bike and plenty more during the rest of the day. Where we could, we wet our heads, our jerseys and anything else water could be poured onto. It didn’t last long but it did offer some relief.

Due to the heat, our stage was shortened by 20km (ASO lead) and it was the right call!

I wasn’t feeling my best. Still recovering from some viral thing so I rode well within myself which I’m pleased I could do! But my happy place is still on my bike 🩷 (which BTW is rolling along sooo beautifully)

A real highlight for me is getting to know the amazing women who are on this journey together and our shared goals! There are tears every morning as we dedicate a day to someone dear to a rider who has been affected by Leukaemia. The WHY is always in our minds.

To date, we have raised £248,000 collectively. Absolutely incredible but we’re not stopping here…..

The donation 🔗 is in my bio!

I’d love to know if you have any Q’s …. Pop in the comments! 👇🏼

Tomorrow we go again! 🚴🏻‍♀️

Stage 5 of @theroute_cl completed in extreme heat, the hottest so far with official temperatures recorded over 40 degrees late in the stage. Ice socks and hundreds of litres of water provided by the amazing support crew enabled the team to get round the incredibly hilly route today.

It takes a team 🩷🩵💛

THE ROUTE: DAY 3 🇨🇭 🇫🇷

This stage was the day we road for a good friend of mine who was diagnosed with a complicated Leukemia in March 2025. He has received brilliant care from the Royal Marsden and due to research and cutting edge treatment, Craig is now recovering well and also enjoyed a gentle ride with our buddies back in Surrey in solidarity with us.

Craig, you are a legend and we are so proud of how you have navigated this tricky journey. Life is special!

The ride itself was our first lumpy day… but the descending was 🚴🏻‍♀️💨

Long days in the sunshine are definitely a challenge to navigate. Making recovery super important. We have a recovery day tomorrow (day 4) which is much needed.

If you still want to support me in my fundraising: link is in my bio! 🥰

Last term, our pupils enjoyed a truly motivational talk from the brilliant Dr Zoë Burton, who shared invaluable life lessons on careers, ambition, and what it means to make a real difference in the world.

Zoë, a Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, is part of a team of female amateur cyclists completing 'The Route' to raise funds for Cure Leukaemia. This extraordinary challenge involves riding every grueling stage of the Tour de France Femmes just one day ahead of the pros.

The campaign has already raised nearly a quarter of a million pounds to fund vital research helping transform clinical trial access for children battling blood cancer.

We want to wish Zoë the very best of luck and plenty of 'steely spirit' as she embarks on her incredible cycling challenge later this week, and an enormous thank you to her for giving her time to inspire our pupils last term.

Please find Zoë's fundraising page link in the comments if you would like to donate.

We are all cheering you on, Dr Burton! 🚴‍♀️🏆

Last big training block this week. Great ride with @cureleukaemia training buddies taking in Holme Moss & Snake Pass ⛰️☀️🥵

In 5 weeks time we’ll be riding all 9 stages of the @letourfemmes just one day ahead of the pro riders.

We’re raising money for @cureleukaemia - specifically for the ATICUS Network that will help to connect cutting edge research trials and improve treatment access for young people with blood cancer.

Brilliant cause, brilliant charity, brilliant ride today 😁

It’s taken me a while to process what we’ve achieved. 410km. 2 days. London to Plymouth.

Mark would never have known how his infectious love of all things cycling sparked a curiosity in me, and ultimately gave me back a sense of myself again after a very difficult time. He would happily talk patiently with me when I was looking to buy a road bike, not seeming to care I didn’t know a chain ring from a top bar 😆. I’m sure he knew what an inspiration he was in so many ways to so many people, but I wish I had had the opportunity to say thank you.

Cycling is so much more than just exercise - it’s freedom, it’s exploring, it’s meditation and in so many cases it’s friendship. @moorsidemadhouse @fazfarrant @rushdie79 @cm2u_southwestguides cycling alongside you guys was a dream. The whole team overcame rain, crashes, punctures and came through with smiles, laughs and high spirits to the end.

And on that note, I am so thankful for the opportunity to have contributed to raising money in mark’s memory, so grateful to the amazing team who rode and raised that money, and so grateful for all the incredible support we have received. I hope we’ve done Mark proud. Link remains in bio to donate to pancreatic cancer UK. 🙏🏻

I finished the Fred Whitton yesterday, and what a day that was!! The toughest sportive in the UK, apparently. I can believe it… the unhinged Roman roads, the climbs that hit north of 30% at times, matched and bettered by the beauty of the Lake District, the vibes, the weather, the Marshalls and organisers and the best of cycling pals imaginable.
BUT…
2300 riders…
Only 144 women
So proud to have shown up and go it done. Come on girls, let’s keep showing up and showing how strong we are!
