And just like that, summer is over.

Final bank holiday of the season and, I’m pleased to report, we are all still standing, still together and, perhaps most impressively, still speaking to one another.

Like a lot of Margate, we’ve had our busiest summer to date. We’ve learnt a lot about this little restaurant, what it can do, what we need to work on, and a fair bit about ourselves too.

There were incredible days and there were hard days, but mostly I’m just incredibly proud of this team. They have worked so bloody hard, looked after each other and welcomed a lot of people through our doors this summer.

It still stops me in my tracks that people walk up Northdown Road and choose to come and eat with us. Thank you. We never take it for granted.

Now, everyone gets a very well deserved breather. @eeeeeeeelisa is off to the Big Apple before returning with a new menu in mid-September, @the_yoga_coop is on a break this week, and Natalia is off to Portugal to work harvest @espera.wines soon.

From tomorrow, Sète moves into autumn hours: closed Wednesdays and Sundays, open from 5pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from midday Saturday.

And to our locals: the hordes are disappearing. Your favourite restaurants have tables again. Go and enjoy them. We’d very much like to see you too.

Cheers to summer 2026. You were a big one.

📸 @sargasso.bar for our pre-summer team night out.
smiling then, and smiling now 🧡

Today’s Gratitude Advent has me looking back at months I’ve avoided… and February is one of them 🫠

February felt like I was living the same day over and over again, shuttling between my flat and Mum’s, held together by worry, routine, (wine) and the dogs.

I’d been back in Glasgow for a few months, longer than planned. I wasn’t looking after myself and as always, my mum noticed. “Go back to Margate, you’re back for the hen” she said. So begrudgingly I went, for sea respite and @mopmargate cucumbers.

I didn’t know it then, but those were the moments I’d hold onto the tightest. Mum making the hard decisions so I didn’t have to. Knowing always what was best, rationalising, guiding, assuring everything will be ok.

My camera roll is full of hopeful things; winter light in my colourful flat, flowers pushing through the dirt, and moments with her that now feel priceless.

Gratitude today looks like honouring that version of myself and remembering her tangible love, in all its practical, loud and decisive ways. And slowly realising that being her daughter means that strength lives in me too, even if I’m only starting to learn how to use it now 🧡

Day 2 of my Gratitude Advent takes me back to January, a month I didn’t realise I was fighting so hard just to get through.

I usually love the fresh start of January, but looking back I can see how much of myself I was using just to cope, to function, to keep moving, pretending EVERYTHING WAS GOING TO BE OK even though I knew it wasn’t.

Which is why I’m so grateful for ✨THE BROOKLEYS✨ who drove 500 miles to pull me back into moments of joy even when I didn’t think I had any left in me. Playing tour guide in between hospital visits, introducing them to vegan square sausage, silly scrabble and climbing a Ben in croc boots. There were good memories amongst it all, and I’m so happy they came to make them.

So if you’re moving through your own fog of anticipatory grief or anything similar right now, please remember to take pictures of thelight. You’ll want to remember them later 🧡✨
