What started as a small home haunt by Erline and Richard in 2021 has evolved into something special for our community. 🥹❤️

Erline and Richard poured their hearts, personal savings, and countless hours into creating a FREE Halloween experience for families, especially those who may not have the means to visit larger attractions like Knott’s Scary Farm or Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights.

With the help of family, friends, and volunteer scare actors, Compton Horror Night became more than a haunted maze. It became a place where kids could make memories, teens could build confidence and friendships, and our community could come together. 🥹🎃

Sadly, following repeated shutdowns by the City of Compton, the owners were forced to begin dismantling their 2026 maze.

💔 Over $15,000 personally invested by the owners including insurance

💔 More than 1,130 hours of labor in the sun on personal time

💔 An additional $900 citation from the city from opening night

Despite these heartbreaking setbacks, Erline and Richard aren’t giving up on their dream of bringing Halloween magic back to our community! ❤️

Their goal for 2027 is to secure a larger location with parking, expand the haunted maze experience, and hopefully introduce food vendors and maybe even a pumpkin patch for the kids! 🎃✨

Despite these efforts, the owners are now facing the difficult decision to dismantle a maze they built with their own time, money, and love for the community. 💔 @comptoncityhall

We understand that safety and city regulations matter, but we’re still hoping for clearer communication and an opportunity to work toward a solution.

Compton deserves positive community experiences, and we hope events like this can continue to have a place in our city. 🥹❤️✨

Honored to be among this group invited to a NYCC panel with special-effects artists whose credits include Star Trek, Superman & Lois, and a multitude of horror films.

Few horror films have ever made paranoia feel this terrifying. John Carpenter’s THE THING is a masterclass in atmosphere, practical effects, and the kind of horror that makes you question everyone in the room. ❄️🔥

Big shoutout to @tom.horror for trusting me with this piece giving me the thrill of bringing this nightmare to life with my own illustrated poster. The fire, the tension, the creature… this film is an absolute masterpiece.
