POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

When artists get together, magical things happen. The solstice market was a collaborative celebration of making things and making things happen, together. We are so blown away by how it all unfolded.

On the eve of the darkest day of the year, in a heartbreaking time in human history, we gathered and filled our buckets with the power of creativity, connection and community.

So many gorgous works of art and fashion filled the space. We raised funds for @artvanprogram and donations for the community fridge. We shared ideas, inspiration and warmth and danced to a transcendent set of vinyl grooves by @dj.roylt

Keep creativity close, friends. This is the energy that will sustain us. Keep creating, keep making, even if just a doodle on the back of a restaurant receipt. Our power is in creativity and in caring for one another in creative ways.

Thank you all so much for sharing your gifts in this way, makers and bakers and movers and shakers! And thank you all for coming to co-create this beautiful event with us all. Thank you for investing in creative community and collaboration.

Music featured on this post is an original song by my bestie @naomiwestwater who crafted one of the most elegant albums you will ever experience, Cycle and Change. Go buy the record: https://naomiwestwater.bandcamp.com/album/cycle-change

Join us on Saturday, July 22nd from 1-2:30 to learn about cyanotype printing!

Students will make and take home 2 greeting cards and 1 canvas tote bag. We will be using plants, seaweed, shells, and other found materials to create bold relief images that resemble an x-ray!

Cyanotype is a 180 year old photographic printing process that produces prints in a distinctive indigo blue. The process was invented by Sir John Herschel, an astronomer and scientist, in 1842. Compared to other photographic printing processes, cyanotype is easy and accessible. No darkroom is needed, instead it uses the power of the sun.

Kids accompanied by an adult are welcome! This class will be taught by Sarah Spencer. $25 pre-registration required on our website. SouthportGeneralStore.com

It’s been almost two years since @morganmitchellcreates and I wandered Monhegan. This spring afternoon is waking me up after a long terrible winter, which in many ways I needed. Still haven’t shed all my frost yet but ready to at least start dreaming of getting lost again. 🌱

Happy Spring ❤️ I loved every bit of this winter but my seeds have sprouted and I’m so excited for the changing of seasons! Looking forward to gardening, camping, sailing, and of course so many ocean swims.
