Big HUGE thank you to Morgan & Jim for getting this baby outfitted for our adventures!! We’ve been waiting for epic scenery like this to do a proper post and have to brag on their superior luggage rack welding, solar installation, and shower mounting skills - among several other things they helped us fine-tune before our trip. And shout out to @tinycampercompany for making such an awesome off-road tiny camper! This baby is built for long distance and the elusive lock & roll hitch system is a game changer! #tinycamper #tinycampercompany #offroadtrailer #solarcamper

1st time etching brass. It lasered really well. @morganoliff was talking about lasering aluminum yesterday and I wondered how brass would laser. This part included the @marubeni_citizen_cincom_inc to make the barbs, the @milltronicsusa mill and lathe. Then we had to silver solder them then bead blast them. Last op was laser engraving.

With the help of @morganoliff
This baby is soon to be on its way out to California! When I was in High School we would walk downtown at lunch. Most kids went to the arcade while me and a couple of buddies would go to the motorcycle shop and drool over the bikes. This was one of them. 1983 Suzuki GS1100E
When @morganoliff posted a pic of this a ways back it brought back a lot of memories. I said to myself… self…. She will be mine… oh yes she will! Four into one Vance and Hines header…. My neighbors are going to hate me.😭 I’m so stoked! Can’t wait!

Thanks again @morganoliff

@igchipoftheweek here’s an interesting one. Machining rubber is always challenging. Swipe to see finished part. Let’s just say it’s more complicated that it may appear.

Every once in a while a fun part comes around. I used @alfredlyon shear hog to make it round and flat.
The I used @garrtool alumastar end mills to cut the features and @harveytool and @helicaltools chamfermills. Lathes are unnecessary right?

@parentevan @morganoliff @oneeartim @proteummach ..... thanks for the feedback, we started with a ‘normal’ long probe until realizing we were ‘shanking out’ (CMM pro term LOL) in deep features, then had this custom stylus made. Nothing to do with shank runout except know it’s there and whether or not it would impact the application. Now I always check it just to know how close the shank is to the stylus tip
