Brave New Worlds / Dress To Impress event at @morganpaper this weekend ✨

What a pleasure it was to serve as a judge alongside @katknowvak for this paper fashion event. The designers really brought the technical skill (making clothing out of paper, yall!?) and insightful thought related to the theme this year - “brave new worlds: a futuristic, fashion-forward era exploring new realities and current societal reflections”. It was so hard to choose the winners! Thank you to all who participated, what a fun night.

Best in Show: Joyce Morrow Jones
Runner Up: Joann Giordano
Honorable Mention: Diane Britt

(Really loved so many others, too)

Bonus fun: @nicnacc with the music

A little taste of Frequencies made its way to the Morgan. ✨

This weekend, Culinary Expressions had the pleasure of providing VIP bites for the Morgan Conservatory’s Dress to Impress fundraiser — and we couldn’t resist bringing a little bit of the Frequencies Supper Club experience with us.

Beautiful bites. Thoughtful presentation. A little storytelling. And a whole lot of love. 🤎

The energy in the room was incredible, and seeing guests experience what we created reminded us exactly why we do this.

We’re so grateful to the Morgan Conservatory for trusting Culinary Expressions to be part of such a special evening — and even more excited because this isn’t the last time you’ll see Frequencies inside these walls. 👀

Consider this a little preview of what’s to come.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, tasted, talked, complimented a dish, and shared in the moment with us. We felt the love.

Crafted with care. Served with style. Experienced together. ✨

Awesome night last night at The Morgan Conservatory’s Dressed To IMPRESS fashion show (where my sissy Diana works) with my family n’ our friends!

All of the runway garments were handcrafted by artists using paper! Everything was so gorgeous, and I totally love creators who think outside of the box!

And huge side note cheers … how awesome does our mom Lovely Laurel look standing w Di, her husband Michael Zubal (stellar bowler hat 🎩 !!!!) , and our friends Glenn, Melissa, and Mikey!!!

Come see my new piece “The Unguilded Age” on the runway at @morganpaper Saturday and join us for Dress to Impress. It will be part of the exhibition Brave New Worlds on view at The Morgan Conservatory.

Title of work:
Unguilded Age

Materials:
Handmade abaca paper by the artist, Cotton binding, Wire, LED Light

Description of Work:
The Unguilded Age is a sculptural luminous hat made from handmade abaca paper, created by the artist through a process of wet sheet formation and pigmented pulp wrapped directly around a wire frame. Referencing the Gilded Age—a period defined by immense wealth, excess, and ostentation—the work reimagines grandeur through humble, organic materials and handmade process. Its luminous presence suggests both fragility and resilience, while its unconventional form inhabits the space between fashion, sculpture, and light. In the context of Brave New Worlds, The Unguilded Age considers a possible future in which value is found not in accumulation and spectacle, but in resourcefulness, equanimity, and the beauty of the handmade. #handmadepaper #papermaking #paperfashion #sculpture #paperandlight

The table just got longer. 🤎

We’ve always said Frequencies is about more than what’s on the plate. It’s about the people we meet, the spaces we gather in, the stories we share, and what happens somewhere between the first bite and the last song.

So for our 2026 season finale, we’re doing something a little special.

Frequencies Supper Club is partnering with Morgan Conservatory ( @morganpaper )
for our November table.

Their medium is paper. Ours is food. But we both believe in making things with our hands, creating with intention, and giving people a reason to gather.

Two forms of craft. One table.

11.15.26 🎶🍽️

One last table before we close out the season.

And baby… we’re gonna make it count.

More soon. 🖤

Join us in wishing @sookkyung_arts good travels back to her home as she completes her time in our community in Cleveland.

We also look forward to when she returns.

The connections between papermaking, memory + creating space and breath for unknown possibility are potent in Sookkyung’s practice.

We are grateful to have hosted Sookkyung and her practice + look forward to what emerges.
