Mawu-Lisa, the Ewe Fon deity representing the complementary forces of the universe. By layering these materials over the human figure, I question what colonialism has covered, what we have inherited, and what remains of our indigenous identity. #prattinstitute #contemporaryart #paris #contemporaryartcollector #frieze

On the 20th of October

Stephen Harrison

Steve Harrison's work begins on the ground. Canvas laid on the pavement/floor frottaged and stained with inks and thin acrylics. Charcoal and pastel lines find a natural line partially made by accidents, finding opportunities to repeat interesting ideas Lines move from the provisional-dragged, erased, redrawn.

Exploring the boundaries between ink stains and paint splatters. Conscious of edges that can differentiate or transition between fields of colour.
Forest paths might be mere scratches that can turn into large entanglements heading towards surfaces that mark
areas of deep colour.

Introducing MA creatives exhibiting on the 20th of October at @morleygallery

Winter Willow
Winter is a seamstress and prop maker who is looking to expand their skills in the world of tailoring and corsetry. Inspired by the works of philosopher Judith Butler.

With this newfound inspiration they wish to use their skills to help make costumes that are better
accessible and focus more on the needs of the people they make their costumes for.

This would be to step away from the current trend within fast fashion that has now made it the norm that you should change your body to fit into clothes when it should not be this way. Clothes have always been made to be altered, you haven't.

They hope to bring this newfound perspective into future projects and burgeoning career as a seamstress.
