I’m so excited to finally have the beautiful Rousseau Orb set up with a few of my favorite Hoyas. 🌿🤍

I had so much fun figuring out how I wanted to incorporate them into this little corner. The orbs come with a metal stabilizing piece, but I decided to leave mine off so I could play with the angles and position each plant exactly where I wanted it.
I especially love that I can see them from my bed when I wake up in the morning. 🥹

I also chose to use just one tray beneath the largest orb at the bottom. This way, when I water from the top, any excess has a chance to make its way down to the plants below before the remaining runoff is collected at the bottom. A small way to make a little more use of the water rather than letting it go to waste. 🌱

I love when plant care, thoughtful design and a little creativity all find their way into the same space.

Every month, we start with an idea, build a world around it, and spend a whole lot of time figuring out how to make a story live in the window for 30 days.

For October, Mum's The Word takes us into a botanical investigation. Plants with suspicious circumstances. Clues hiding in plain sight. A little mystery around every corner.

Our team has been building, painting, arranging, refining, and obsessing over the details that make this month's scene feel like more than a window display. It's our shrine to all of the beautiful tools, like soil and plant dusters, that we use to help us take care of our plant friends.💚

A new school year is a new chapter, but you don't have to have the whole plot figured out yet.

Maybe you're starting something completely new.
Maybe you're going back to something you loved.
Maybe you're changing your mind about where you thought you were headed.

That's the nice thing about turning a new leaf. You don't need a five-year plan. You just need a place to start.

End-of-Summer Bog Update

A few months later, and the fully operational bog station is doing amazing.

The moss came back to life with a vengeance. What started out looking pretty dead is now huge, vibrant green, and incredibly lush. It has completely taken over in the best possible way. Thank you @mossify

The automatic top off system worked perfectly and we never once had any water issues even in constant 30c weather.

The carnivorous plants are also doing great — I think. I am definitely no expert when it comes to carnivorous plants, but they’re alive, growing, and seem happy, so I’m calling that a win.

The hardy orchids have generally grown really well too. Unfortunately, no real flowers this year, which was a bit of a bummer. I was hoping to get some blooms so I get on flasking some seed from them this year.

Still, for the bog’s first summer, I’m pretty happy with how everything has established itself. Hopefully next year brings some flowers!
