for any of my mourning-minded followers, make sure to stop by the @bloodmilk Victorian Mourning Fair this Friday at @sphinxandsnakeskin to pick up some of my mourning stationery! introduced last June at the first Victorian Mourning Fair, this stationery was designed by me and printed by my favorite stationery shop, @openseadesignco 🖤 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I covet antique 19th + 20th century mourning stationery whenever I find it in the wild but don't feel right about using it, so I wanted to make a personal and usable version. printed on antique white Mohawk Superfine paper, the letterhead features a black border on both sides of the page. the hand-assembled envelopes have that same border in addition to my motto, "Love Perfected by Death." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ traditionally, the width of the black border indicated the mourner's stage of grief, with the widest border signifying the deepest period of mourning from a recent death. for me, the inky black border represents that realm bordering all our lives, from whence we come and to which we must all one day return-- it speaks of the peripheral nature of the demi-monde or spirit world.
