Ellerinize sağlık arkadaşlar....🍀👏🎶

In the workshop we held at Codarts Rotterdam, we worked on examples of "gurbet havası" melodies and "Teke zortlatması" rhythms. We had a wonderful session with Dutch violin student @wandelendevioliste—whose primary focus is actually tango music—alongside Hungarian violin student @sunbpi and Iranian kamancheh student @mostafataleb_; they achieved impressive musical synergy in such a short time—just one hour. Great job, everyone... 🍀👏🎶

Hossein Behroozina: barbat,
Tristan Driessens: oud,
Pouriya Jaberi: daf, bendir.

Koohestan (Mountain) is a musical program arranged by the master of the Persian barbat, Hossein Behroozinia. Serving as a journey through the diverse regional cultures of Iran, Koohestan bridges geographic boundaries by translating centuries-old folkloric themes into sophisticated new arrangements. Through these compositions—including the well-known regional melody Dreneh Jan—the program captures the distinct cultural identities rooted in Iran’s rugged mountainous terrains, offering a cohesive structural narrative of heritage, longing, and community.

For this concert, the repertoire features a unique instrumentation designed to highlight the expressive depth of the Persian lute. Hossein Behroozinia leads on the barbat—an ancient precursor to the modern oud that he has famously revitalized as a prominent solo voice. He is joined by Tristan Driessens on second oud, creating an intricate, multi-layered dialogue between the string instruments. Providing the structural rhythmic framework is Pouriya Jaberi on daff and bendir, whose dynamic percussion patterns preserve the essential pulses of Iranian folk tradition.

Constellations

Looking at the sky is an attempt to see and discover what is happening above us; a distant and quiet world that reveals traces of itself between light and darkness.

Stars have never been just points of light in the sky. Since ancient times, people have seen shapes among them, connected them, and created stories around them. Andromeda, Cassiopeia and Orion are earthly figures that found their way into the sky; stories passed down through generations that still live somewhere between the earth and the stars.

Constellations, like old memories, exist somewhere between reality and imagination; between what we know and what we do not yet understand.

Perhaps looking at the sky is a continuation of that ancient search: finding order within the infinite, connecting distant points, and searching for a meaning that may never be fully revealed.

What would an orchestra look like if it were invented today in Brussels? What does Europe’s most cosmopolitan city sound like? These questions form the basis of the Sound of Brussels Orchestra (BE), a Klara Festival project in collaboration with cultural partners from across the city (@artcornerplatform ).

In 2026, the line-up was expanded from eight to ten musicians and the entire team came together at AB for another residency. The result of their search for the unique sound of our capital can be experienced during the Car-Free Sunday of 2026 at AB!

At dusk,
the water kept its silence,
the music found its voice,
and we listened
to what words could never say.
