Another fun advocacy adventure! 💙

I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Corro’s OTE612 Occupational Therapy class! As someone who has spent her life navigating the world with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia (ONH), I’m always grateful for opportunities to share my lived experience with future healthcare professionals.

There’s something special about stepping outside the textbook and helping students understand what accessibility and inclusion look like in everyday life. My hope is that conversations like these encourage future occupational therapists to look beyond a diagnosis, listen to their patients, ask questions, and recognize the importance of individualized care.

If sharing my story helps even one future healthcare professional see things from a different perspective, then it’s time well spent. 💙

I’m so grateful for opportunities like this to educate, connect, and help make the world a little more accessible for everyone!

On Oct. 7 was the annual Go Baby Go Fitting Day event at @missouristate !

Occupational therapy students designed and built custom ride-on Jeeps for children with limited mobility, giving them more opportunities to move, explore and have fun.

Today our second-year OT students had their fitting for their Go Baby Go adapted toy jeeps! 🚗

They got to meet some wonderful kids and their families in hope to increase their independence and social participation! These adaptive vehicles were individualized to each client through various decorations and modifications!

Thank you to David & Stacey O’Reilly for supporting us & making this event possible!
