Comhghairdeas ar leith le Dónall Mac Ruairí, a chuir síol an smaoinimh seo agus a chuir an clár i láthair go máistriúil.

Ba mhór an phribhléid ómós a thabhairt do Moya Brennan, agus a glór álainn a chur i gcroílár an cheiliúrtha le cóiriú úr ar Coinleach Glas an Fhómhair.

Ba chúis bróid phearsanta domh fosta oidhreacht cheoil Oirialla a chluinstin i measc thraidisiúin na nGaeltachtaí eile, le Zoë Conway, John McIntyre agus Piaras Ó Lorcáin, a chan amhrán a thug m’aintín Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin chun solais arís in A Hidden Ulster.

Moya Brennan (Enya’s sister!) and Chicane scored a big trance hit across Europe during the summer of 1999 with Saltwater. It reached UK #6 and reworks part of Moya’s family group Clannad’s UK #5 hit from 1982, Theme from Harry’s Game. (Enya was also a member of Clannad in the early 80s.)

Rather than simply sampling the original vocal, Moya actually re-recorded her vocals adding some new touches in the process.

Moya sadly passed away earlier this year at the age of 73.

Here Moya and Nick performed Saltwater on Top of the Pops in 1999. Do you have a special memory to this track?

Shifting continents at midnight. Moving seamlessly from Europe to Asia across the iconic 2nd bridge, framed by the red suspension lights and complete cockpit isolation.

Soundtracked by one of the greatest progressive trance masterpieces ever produced: Chicane @nickchicane feat. Moya Brennan’s @moyabrennan Saltwater (released in June 1999 via Xtravaganza Recordings). Built upon the hauntingly ethereal vocal samples of Clannad's Theme from Harry's Game and driven by a hypnotic 135 BPM balearic rhythm, this track defined the golden era of emotional electronic music.

Sealed inside the cabin while the city lights blur across two different worlds. Pure auditory therapy.

Track Specs
ID: Chicane feat. Moya Brennan – Saltwater
Release: June 1999 (Xtravaganza Recordings)
Label: Xtravaganza / Edel
Genre: Progressive Trance / Balearic Trance

🙋‍♀️ O DIREITO DE ESTAR NA VIDA 👶🏼🪴

🇮🇪🤰 Máire Philomena Ní Bhraonáin 🙏🏻 (Máire Brennan) 🌬️🪉 Moya Brennan 🌠 🎤 🎼 Children of war 💙 🎶☀️ @moyabrennan 💫 @clannadmusic_pastpresent @clannadband

🙋‍♀️ THE RIGHT TO BE IN LIFE 🌬️👶🏼☀️

🇮🇪🤰 Máire Philomena Ní Bhraonáin 🙏🏻 (Máire Brennan) 🌬️🪉 Moya Brennan 🌠 🎤 🎼 Iláithair Dé 💙 🎶☀️ @moyabrennan 💫 @clannadmusic_pastpresent @clannadband

A child 👶🏼 before being conceived 🤰 was permitted by God ☀️ the Right to Be in Life 🌬️🪴🫀

In the womb 🤰 a child develops with its eyes closed, mouth silent, in the darkness, without contact with this world, in innocence 🤰 it does not know what the world has in store for it…
It does not wait, but neither does it despair. It is not in a hurry, because it does not yet know what it means to live in this unknown world. 🌍

In the womb, it is nourished by what the placenta captures from the nutrients in the mother’s blood, because, as we know, a Mother is unique 👩‍👧 from the beginning. 🤰🧑‍🧒‍🧒

Upon arriving in this world, the mother experiences the painful process of childbirth or a caesarean section, which is also not easy at all, but that does not mean that the child has to suffer or bear any blame.

In the sadness of farewell, what brings comfort is knowing that the “SPIRIT 🌌 the SOUL is the BREATH” 🕯 which does not end with the “BODY” when saying goodbye to LIFE. ☀️🐥

Protecting life 🤰 and caring for the continuation of the human race. 🙏🏻
