🤝 UNITY MARCH ✊️

The voices of division in our country are growing louder. Those who preach division are becoming more confident.

For the first time the far right are driving politics at a national level, and far right protests on our streets are mobilising the biggest numbers they ever have.

Their false promises seize on the very real economic problems people face, in order to scapegoat migrants, Muslims, and refugees.

But we can change things together. The voices of unity can grow stronger.

On the 28 March 2026 500,000 people marched in London against the far right. It was the biggest demonstration of its kind in British history.

Merseyside Stand Up To Racism, alongside many organisations, are mobilising people from across the Liverpool City Region for a march in Liverpool on Saturday 14 November 2026. A celebration that brings a message of hope over fear, love over hate and unity over division.

We hope you can join us on Saturday 14 November and help build an movement for love, hope and unity.

It was a pleasure to attend the powerful All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) discussion on Miscarriages of Justice hosted by Kim Johnson MP in Liverpool. The event provided a vital platform for raising awareness, sharing experiences, and exploring the reforms needed to strengthen public confidence in our justice system.

💙 Student Spotlight | Alfie 💙

Last week, we caught up with Alfie Fitzsimmons, one of our Upper Sixth students, to hear about the incredible work he’s been doing through his charity @alfiessquad and what a week he’d had!

Alfie was invited to Parliament by @mpkimjohnson on Tuesday, where he spoke with MPs about Alfie’s Squad and helped raise awareness of suicide prevention and suicide bereavement.

Then, just a few days later, Alfie represented Alfie’s Squad at @everton Hill Dickinson Stadium, alongside Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales, for the launch of On Your Side a new initiative focused on improving mental health support in sport, developed in partnership with @chasingstigma.

For someone still at college, Alfie is doing some pretty amazing things! What stands out most, however, is his genuine determination to help others, raise awareness, and make a positive difference. 💙

Alfie’s work is a wonderful example of subsidiarity in action: recognising how individuals and local communities can take the initiative, use their gifts, and make meaningful contributions to society. Through Alfie’s Squad, he is showing how one person's commitment can inspire others, strengthen communities, and help ensure that people affected by suicide and bereavement feel supported and heard. 🤝
As a Carmel community, we couldn’t be prouder of him.

👏 Well done, Alfie, and thank you for everything you’re doing!

No child should be going hungry during the school holidays.

Thank you to Kim Johnson @mpkimjohnson MP for Liverpool Riverside for highlighting how unacceptable it is that, in one of the richest countries in the world, children and young people are still going without the food they need during the holidays.

We’re calling on the Government to extend HAF eligibility in line with Free School Meal eligibility, so that more children and young people can access support during the school holidays.

The government has failed women (again).

Nearly 20,000 people called for free period products in public bathrooms this summer. The government has admitted they are ESSENTIAL, but refused to make them mandatory, leaving provision “optional” to public venues.

Period products are as fundamental to basic sanitation as toilet paper.

This is indisputable fact, whether you’re homeless, escaping domestic violence, struggling financially, or simply caught without one;

Essential does not equal optional. It’s now time to stop allowing our government to ignore that. And I’ve got a financially sustainable and viable solution to do just that - so let’s talk.

A big thank you to Kim Johnson MP for raising this issue in Parliament today. If the link is broken between term time free school meal eligibility and HAF eligibility in the school holidays, this will result in two tier child poverty in England.

We look forward to this issue being raised again in Parliament in the weeks leading up to the Budget.
