As far back I could remember I always wanted to be a gangster ❤️‍🔥
-Goodfellas

#movie #gangster #goodfellas

Goodfellas (stylized as GoodFellas) is a 1990 American biographical gangster film[5] directed by Martin Scorsese, written by Nicholas Pileggi and Scorsese, and produced by Irwin Winkler. It is a film adaptation of Pileggi's 1985 nonfiction book Wiseguy. Starring Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, Lorraine Bracco and Paul Sorvino, the film narrates the rise and fall of Mafia associate Henry Hill and his friends and family from 1955 to 1980.

Goodfellas premiered at the 47th Venice International Film Festival on September 9, 1990, where Scorsese was awarded with the Silver Lion award for Best Director, and was released in the United States on September 18 by Warner Bros. Pictures. When released, the film grossed $47 million against a budget of $25 million and received widespread acclaim. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, with Pesci winning Best Supporting Actor. The film also won five awards from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, including Best Film and Best Director, and was named the year's best film by various critics' groups.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made, particularly in the gangster genre, the critical consensus on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes calls it "arguably the high point of Martin Scorsese's career". In 2000, it was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the United States Library of Congress.[6][7] Its content and style have been emulated in numerous other pieces of media.

3,000 years loving her and still weren't enough

Time means nothing when you love the wrong person.
In The Mummy Returns, Imhotep does everything to bring back the woman he loves — defies death, destiny, even the gods. But in the end, she leaves him to die alone.
As he realizes he’s about to fall, he sees Evelyn choosing Rick without hesitation. That final smile and nod isn’t defeat — it’s understanding. In that moment, he finally sees what true love looks like… and knows he never had it. Even if he survived, he would never find it. So he lets go.

The sequel is often remembered for its questionable CGI, but that ending? It’s far more powerful than people give it credit for.

Sometimes, the extraordinary hides inside what we call ordinary.

One of the saddest films I've ever seen

Sean Durkin’s The Iron Claw is less a sports movie and more a modern tragedy. Following the real-life Von Erich wrestling family, it tells a story of glory overshadowed by unbearable loss. Of six brothers, only one survived — a fact that makes the film devastating to watch.

Zac Efron delivers a career-best performance, transforming himself physically and emotionally into Kevin Von Erich, supported by a stellar cast that captures both the brotherhood and the heartbreak.

On set, Stanley Simons lightened the mood by singing High School Musical songs to Efron, a surreal contrast to the film’s heavy tone. Also, the film was named one of the Top 10 Movies of 2023 by the National Board of Review.
