"…we can create these musical experiences that just can't be boiled down to a viral clip or an hour set at a festival." — @dj_spun

Unedited is built on exactly that. One artist, one room, all night. The time and space to take it somewhere a highlight reel never could.

Theo Parrish (@soundsignature)
Oakland, CA
April 19, 2026

It was a dream and a scheme to photograph Theo Parrish in Oakland this spring. To me he is one of the ultimate creative spirits. Got to snap a couple portraits while setting up for his 7-hour set at the @aylisf / @unabridgedlive Backyard BBQ, and later he sent voiceover for the last video. Thank you for everything Theo @soundsignature

Massive shoutout to @mrbispo for making it all happen

DJ Spun was part of the founding generation of SF’s acid house scene. He played the Trocadero Transfer and Townsend. He ran Promo Only, which introduced the disco edit craze to the US. He built Rong Music with Ben Cook into one of the sharpest labels of the 2000s through a dual-imprint deal with DFA, releasing music from James Chance and the Contortions and Coati Mundi alongside records that sat comfortably nowhere. For seven years he curated MoMA/PS1’s Warm Up series in New York. His All Night Rong sets have run in rooms from London to Tokyo. He is back home in the Bay. Photo by @alexxconroy

Greetings, Earthlings.

There is something about bringing a sound system into a meadow that resets the terms of the whole thing. No stage. No barrier between the speakers and the grass. Just a blanket, a sky, and a lineup of five artists who understand that ambient, experimental, and electronic music have always been in conversation with the natural world.

Saturday May 30, @earthling.fyi x @aylisf set up shop at Elk Glen Meadow for an afternoon of outdoor listening on a beautiful sound system.

Five artists across four hours: @yantrarhythm opens at 11:30, followed by @coolmaritime, @matthewdavidmcq with @cole.pulice on saxophone, then @colloboh on modular, and @__shigeto closing the meadow before sunset.

Bring-your-own-blanket and outdoor-listening-bar energy. All ages. Free, donation supported. The deep experimental roots of the Bay get to breathe in the open air.

@ronny.ronny.ronny is a San Francisco, based writer, editor, and creative director whose relationship with music has taken many forms, psych rock drummer, disco DJ, punk bassist, radio host, and founder of @whitecratesf , an independent platform spotlighting Bay Area artists and culture.

His first piece for @unabridgedsf , Influences, begins with a $12 ticket at @publicworkssf and a Saturday night Juan Atkins set that ran until 3AM. It traces the full arc — a dog-eared copy of Techno Rebels, a living room mattress lifted off the floor to make room for dancing, and the moment the Belleville Three stopped being names in a book and became something felt.

It's a story about cities, music, and finding your church.

@aylisf takes the @unabridgedsf campaign to the @madoakbar rooftop to pay homage to one of Detroit’s most influential - @officialjdilla.

Twenty years ago, J Dilla built a transmission from a hospital bed — a portable SP-303, a stack of crates, and something racing inside him that had nothing to do with the disease.

Donuts turns 20. And that signal is still reaching people.

@dezandresmahogani (Slum Village) brings the Detroit legacy home to the Bay — not as tribute, but as a conversation Dilla never got to finish. Alongside @djheylove @maxkanemusic @djtraps jazzpinata and MC @seti_x , this is boom-bap warmth, crate-digger reverence, and a dance floor that listens.

Tracing the full story of Black musical genius across cities and generations.

Come to learn. Come to celebrate. Come to dance.

There will be plenty of all three. Art by @solidgoldsilva

#throwbackthursday

Five weeks ago, there was a brief calm.

The next day, @unabridgedsf relaunched with @kisi_kisi and @hotwaxxhale deep in conversation, tracing the roots of Detroit’s queer underground at @studsf The night closed with a roar from the dance floor at @publicworkssf as @mikeservito & @theblessedmadonna brought their performance to a powerful end.

@nightmovesme captured fleeting moments from the weekender through his lenses. @barshiruoakland set the tone with beautiful ambiance and impeccable cocktails, creating the perfect backdrop for a vinyl history lesson on Detroit’s underground from @dj_kelleyjane @nowaydudez and @_joerice

Seven events in eight days created a rhythm that carried our team forward. @jeff_mills_official ’s controlled chaos at @1015sf will live on in Bay Area music lore, a sold-out night that pushed the dance floor into a frenzy from start to finish.

Saturday evening opened with Mills in thoughtful conversation with @sharlese_m Techno heads clean up well. We see you. Thank you for seeing us and supporting our step into POFA with Metropolis Metropolis. The night continued at Monarch with a Detroit beatdown from @jkendig and @carlossouffront at @monarchsf . Their chemistry, built over decades, gave a glimpse into late nights in Detroit before both made their way to San Francisco.

Sunday’s perfect weather set the stage for @moodymann313 & @marcelluspittman to deliver a lesson in the soul of the 313. Five hours together felt like it passed in an instant. Over the eight days, each of our local ambassadors stepped up, delivering performances to be proud of.

The brief reprieve between @7thwestoakland and @soundsignature ’s start-to-finish set at @theloomoakland is coming to an end soon. Tickets are moving quickly. 🎟️ --> unabridged-sf.com

Thank you to everyone who joined us, contributed, and helped build the foundation that made it all possible. And to the artists, thank you for creating a soundtrack we won’t forget.
