Industrial bones. Curated edge.

We didn’t soften this loft — we turned up the volume.

Exposed brick. Steel. Baltic birch. A seriously cool fireplace. And a motorcycle that clearly understood the assignment. 🏍️

Industrial eclectic, with attitude.

Motorcycle not included. 😉

Say “all-white kitchen” to most people and you get one of two faces. Bored, or already tired from picturing the cleanup.

This is a couple’s cottage, and the whole point of it is a full house. Grown kids, grandkids, everyone at once. So, along with @waveinteriors, we went white anyway and gave it plenty to hold onto: old beams with the knots still showing, brass, a stone with green running through it, and a banquette covered in flowers because nobody under ten has ever loved a beige cushion.

The half of the island closest to the stools is wood. That’s where the toast and the jam and the elbows go. A mark on wood just looks lived in.

It’s a very white kitchen. It’s also very ready for a four-year-old with toast.

We’ve been working on our Old Linden Lane project for several years now; it is gratifying to watch some landscapes now maturing, while newer landscapes, features, and details are just coming together. This special project celebrates the coastal site and Acadian Forest, while providing multiple areas to explore and discover throughout the seasons. Stay tuned for more.

It’s July and in Chester that means the pool’s finally warm, the windows are open, and this house is doing exactly what it was designed for.

Here’s what people who didn’t grow up here don’t know about a Nova Scotia summer. Our winters are long and often cold, and we spend most of the year waiting on this. So when July comes, everyone goes a little wild in the best way. We’re outside from morning to dark. We eat every meal on the deck. We say yes to everything.

This one’s a Cape Cod, punchy white walls with blue and teal moving through, the kind of colours that only make sense near the water. Soft and bright at the same time. A house built for the ten weeks a year everyone here lives for.

We waited all year. It’s here.

Water out every window. Fresh flowers on the counter because it’s that time of year. ☀️

Set within the bones of an old CMU commercial structure, this adaptive reuse project reimagines the workplace as a layered, social environment. One that moves fluidly between productivity and celebration. Designed for an established contracting company, the space functions as a hybrid hub: part office, part event venue, part showroom. It accommodates day-to-day work, client meetings, and collaborative sessions, while seamlessly transforming to host seasonal gatherings, lunch-and-learns, and larger community events.

Flexibility is central to the design. Expansive open areas are balanced with generous seating arrangements, integrated presentation technology, and a fully equipped kitchen, allowing the space to support everything from intimate meetings to fully catered functions. available for external rental, it fills a notable gap in Halifax’s event landscape, offering a versatile environment that feels both professional and inviting.

Aesthetically, the project draws on the warmth and familiarity of old-world pub interiors, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Rich materials, layered textures, and crafted details create a sense of permanence and character, while maintaining a clean, modern sensibility. Throughout, the design serves a dual purpose: not only as a functional workspace, but also as a living portfolio. A wide array of construction techniques, finishes, and custom elements are intentionally showcased, sparking conversation and demonstrating the company’s spread of expertise.

At its core, the project celebrates craftsmanship. Bespoke millwork, carefully considered details, and tactile materials anchor the space, reinforcing a hands-on approach to building. This ethos is further underscored by the owner’s passion for motorcycles, which are thoughtfully integrated throughout, introducing an industrial edge and a sense of personal narrative that makes the environment distinctly their own. #architecture #construction #hospitality #interiordesign #halifax
