Hi Couture lovers🎉

I remember designing this dress, one of many, and I envisioned a dress made of the largest knots.

ALOT of my texture work was made with knots, inspired by my Grandmothers job as a seamstress, tailor and mender of the local fisherman's nets. The nets were full of knots but they were dependent on the nets as a tool of survival.

My Grandmother would mend and she would also be witness to the fantastic stories from the neighbourhood, sewing into the small hours of the morning and she could make a dress for a person, just by looking at their physique. An eye that has certainly been passed down to me, as a Personal Stylist and dress designer.

This design was almost like a Funeral/ mourning dress, a nod to a 'Wedding Dress'. My Grandmother also loved the Flamenco dresses of Spain, for their peacock-esque bird silhouettes.... A silhouette of drama and emotion and.... elegance!

🌈 The Gay Wedding Blog is BACK! 🌈

Back in 2018, WHEN my partner Luke and I were planning our wedding, we hit a wall we never expected — LGBTQ+ representation in wedding fairs and online blogs was almost non‑existent.

Every venue, every supplier list, every “inspiration” page seemed to assume one thing: a heterosexual couple....

We searched everywhere for a space that celebrated couples like us — especially something local to Sheffield — but the industry just wasn’t there yet.

And then fate stepped in.

We found @nellynaylorphotography , a proud gay woman who was unapologetically flying the flag against the “norm”.

She photographed our wedding, captured our story beautifully, and somewhere along the way… we became best friends!

For years we’ve talked about creating something we wished we had back then —

✨ A space for LGBTQ+ couples
✨ A directory of inclusive, affirming suppliers
✨ A hub of inspiration rooted in real representation
And now?
That dream has landed right in our laps!

This week marks my 1st anniversary of being fully self-employed. No more panic part-time styling roles 'just in case' I couldnt pay my rent. I made the leap and it's been insane. Styled By Sian is an extension of me, we are the same person and I am so proud to have made a business that helps people reconnect with who they are on the inside and allows them to reflect that person by how they dress. It's all about how people feel - style starts within and I am HONOURED to help clients feel confident and fully themselves again. Its MAGIC.
To my clients who aren't 'clients' but treasured friends, thank you for opening up to me and trusting me with yourself. Everything I do comes from my soul and I put every ounce of energy, time, and passion into what I do to help lift you up - and make you look fabulous.
It's actually a pinch-me moment - a whole year of living and breathing my actual DREAM. My word it's been a total blast, I have learned SO much and I couldn't be more grateful for everyone's full support and belief in me. It's not all been skipping around in Harvey Nics shopping and drinking champers... I'm pretty sure that's what everything thinks we do as stylists hahaha but I must admit there has been a fair amount of that too.. haha
I have worked my butt off this year and I expect to keep that up. Harder even. I have achieved SO much, things I had never even considered and I can't wait to see what the next 12 months bring. I am aware of how lucky I am, I am eternally grateful for each and every client of mine.
It's not all sequins and kittens in my HQ, there's been tears, TIREDNESS, frustration, anxiety, sleepless nights, ugly crying and some self-doubt but it's so worth it. Lets not talk about my love of TYPOS and messing up peoples names. Its HARD out there, we must always be ourselves and always be kind. I don’t have enough room to thank everyone but you should know who you are!!!
