Donuts & donors! 🍩💙💚 Our SODA officers had an amazing time at the 2026 Urban Expo community& Empowerment Festival, where we shared donuts while educating our community about the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation!

We also had the opportunity to meet Mr. Fresh, a local entrepreneur making an impact in our community. We’re grateful for another opportunity to connect, educate, and spread awareness about the power of donation! 🫶🏼♻️

On August 9th, we came together at Carver Elementary for an afternoon centered around literacy, family, community, and investing in our children.

A special thank you to @joclive for joining us as our celebrity guest reader, showing up for our youth, and helping us demonstrate that reading is powerful.

None of this would have been possible without the collaboration and commitment of our amazing partners: @littlebitstl, @stledfund, @urbanstrategiesinc and @blackmenreadstl

This recap is just a glimpse of what happens when organizations come together with a shared purpose putting books in children’s hands, creating positive experiences, and building stronger communities.

This is what community looks like. This is Books & BBQ. 🔥📚

FROM 11 YEARS OLD TO WALMART: MR. FRESH SAYS YOU CAN DO IT TOO 💯

Mr. Fresh @mrfreshglobal dropped some jewels on us! 💎 He started his air freshener business at just 11 years old. Now he’s 16 with his products in Walmart.

His message: “If I can make it, you can make it too.”

BOOKS & BBQ: COMMUNITY, LITERACY & IMPACT

What an incredible way to close out our Books & BBQ Summer Literacy Series!

This event went beyond books and BBQ it brought families, educators, organizations, and community leaders together around one shared goal: creating positive experiences with books, literacy, and learning for our children.

This work was made possible through the collaboration of our partners: @urbanstrategiesinc @littlebitstl @stledfund

A heartfelt thank you to all staff, volunteers, and community partners who helped bring this vision to life, and to our guest readers, @joclive and @mrfreshglobal for engaging our youth and bringing stories to life in a powerful way.

Most importantly, thank you to every family who joined us you are the reason this work matters.

When community comes together, we do more than share books we help children build lifelong relationships with reading.

Books. BBQ. Literacy. Community. Impact.

Books & BBQ 📚🔥 — STL showed OUT!

Had the opportunity to capture an amazing day of community, culture, and giving back as @joclive teamed up with @mrfreshglobal @littlebitstl & @blackmenreadstl to support the youth and make an impact one book at a time. ❤️📚

It’s bigger than the BBQ — it’s about investing in our youth, creating opportunities, and changing lives.

Shoutout to everyone who came out and helped make it happen! 🙌🏾

What an amazing time pouring into the next generation! I had a great time teaming up with Yung Joc, enjoying some good food, great energy, and an even greater purpose! 💫📚

Big shoutout to Black Men Read STL and The Little Bit Foundation for creating a space where we can encourage, inspire, and empower our youth. ❤️📚

This is bigger than business - it’s about community, connection, and showing our young people what’s possible. 💯

Thank you, @joclive and @mrfreshglobal for pouring into our next generation today at the 2026 Books & BBQ Literacy Event at Carver Elementary. One message you both emphasized that will stay with me also is: “I am important.” “Age is not a barrier to success” if 17 year old @mrfreshglobal can do it you ABSOLUTELY can too. Such a powerful reminder that there is no limit to who we are or who we’re becoming. Thank you both for continuing to show the city so much love. We love you both! 🤎 Thank you again for the encounters today, history was for sure made today
