💗 June Men’s Month ReCap: Men Supporting Women in Disc Golf 💗
Throughout June, I had the privilege of celebrating five incredible men whose actions continue to make a positive impact on the disc golf community.

Tremendous thank you to…

🥏 Stephen “Old Bro” Bowen
🥏 Scott Price
🥏 Jesse Clearwater
🥏 Marshall “Griff” Griffiss
🥏 James Coste

Each of these gentlemen shared their stories and reminded us that supporting women in disc golf happens in many different ways—through encouragement, mentorship, tournament leadership, community service, friendship, and creating welcoming spaces where everyone feels they belong.

Whether through leadership, mentorship, volunteering, friendship, or simply making someone feel welcome—thank you. 💗🥏

Welcome to the next feature in our June Men’s Spotlight Series!

Marshall started playing disc golf in 2020 after leaving EMS and looking for something meaningful to do with his spare time. What started as a new hobby quickly became a passion for growing the game, running events, and helping new players feel welcome.

Marshall is well known in the disc golf community as a Tournament Director, event leader, mentor, and someone who continuously makes disc golf happen in the city of Tallahassee.

On a personal note, Marshall has been a strong supporter of my own journey in disc golf. He encouraged my interest in tournament directing, helped me believe I could step into that space, and provided the opportunity for me to help grow the sport.

🥏 What he loves most:
Running events, introducing new players to the game, and watching people have a great time.

💪 What keeps him motivated:
His trust in Jesus Christ.

🥏 Favorite Disc:
EMac Truth — a disc he has trusted since the beginning.

🎉 Fun Fact:
Marshall is a father of six, including four adopted children, and is actively involved at Morningside Church mentoring high school students.

Thank you, Marshall, for your leadership, faith, service, and continued support of women, new players, and the Tallahassee disc golf community. 💗🥏

This past weekend I competed in the The 21s Open at Tallahassee AM disc golf tournament, a three-day, three-round event with 24 holes each round, making it both mentally and physically demanding.

In the first round, I finished +4, which was rated 930. While it wasn’t a bad start overall, one hole significantly impacted my score—on hole 8, I took an 8. A quintuple bogey! I was +8 at this point. If I had managed to par that hole, I would have been tied for first heading into the second round. Instead, I found myself tied for 7th, which motivated me to improve moving forward.

I responded well in the second round, shooting -5 with a rating of 994. This was one of my stronger rounds, as I was consistent off the tee and capitalized on scoring opportunities. That performance moved me into first place by one stroke going into the final round.

In the final round, I shot even par, rated 952. The round was somewhat inconsistent. I began playing solidly, but gradually lost momentum as it progressed. Despite that, I managed to stay competitive and finished tied for first with Alex, which forced a playoff.

The playoff lasted three holes and was highly competitive throughout. Each shot required focus and composure. Ultimately, I was able to secure the win, which was especially rewarding given the ups and downs of the tournament.

I would like to thank Marshall and the entire Tallahassee crew for organizing and hosting another excellent event.

All always, I would to give thanks to my wonderful sponsors, @discraftunderground and @teamfiggins.

Opened up the year TDing a @collegediscgolf Regional event in Florida! Just like the event I run in Illinois during the Fall semester, this one was just as fulfilling.
Shoutout to Ledgestone for helping me with player packs as always- the esp Zones looked amazing along with the custom pins and the @ledgestonediscgolf Mini!
All the behind the scene work we are doing at CDG can be seen at these regional events and putting faces to names is my favorite part. I couldn’t have run this event without local help from @mrgriff_tally @fsunjm08 and (Nick Meyer). We then had amazing help from Shawn Haskin @sph07d and other volunteers like @jamescoste and @oldbrodg - THANK YOU! Also shoutout to the City of Tallahassee for all the work they did getting the course ready to go along with @davemuntean 🔥

Congrats to all the programs who took bids home with them and then finished in podium spots. I’ll see some of you next week for the next regional in Alabama! This 🦈 has a string of Southeast CDG events I’ll be at and I can’t wait for more TD adventures.
