Hello @mrjasongrant here sharing a super niche Tokyo favourite hidden gem today

The places I love the most peak my curiosity and make me feel something, not a transaction much more a mood and a feeling, these places I return to often, I feel a connection and they become part of my story.

I love that my Tokyo friends wonder how I know about some of these places…

This random and very overgrown “guest house” in a back street is such a favourite in an out of the way neighbourhood…

This was an internet fever dream, with very details available online and no location details online what so ever. As soon as I saw this I was mesmerised by the images of this place, some kind of Ghibli dream and I was Immediately curious and had to find it. In total meant to be magic, that happens often in Japan for me and with some local intel and help from a Tokyo friend we found it and it was so worth it

@jason_japan_ is like having a Japan obsessed best friend in the palm of your hand

¿Jugamos?

Set among established bushland, Tallowood creates a quiet connection between the home and its natural surroundings.

Dark textured cladding, warm timber and soft neutral finishes give the home a grounded feel, while courtyards and outdoor spaces open the interiors to the surrounding landscape.

The result is a home that feels private, connected and considered, with the existing trees becoming an important part of the experience.

Made for more than a decade 🤎

Our approach to design has always centred on creating timeless pieces with purpose. Rather than designing for a particular moment or trend, we consider how each piece will be used, the natural materials best suited to it and the traditional techniques of the artisans who make it.

Some of the best reflections of this approach have now been in our collection for more than a decade. From jute baskets and wall hangings to woven bags, these designs are still handcrafted by the same Fair Trade artisan partners we first developed them with and are as relevant today as when they were first created.

This week, we’re taking a closer look at our Jute Placemats. With their natural blonde tone and beautiful braided texture, they bring warmth to the table for everything from everyday meals to special occasions. Each set of eight comes stored in a matching lidded basket, with coordinating coasters also available.

Handcrafted by women artisans in Bangladesh, the placemats are made using the same braiding and stitching technique as many of our much-loved jute baskets.

Beautiful colour chosen for this build.
Even in the space of an hour it’s colour changes…
Any guess as to what it is?

Tokyo must visit (seriously)
Hi there @mrjasongrant here

One of the most exciting things about discovering Japan is the people you meet along the way…
I met @laurenrosekocher on Instagram thanks to the Japan algorithm. Our first meet up she gave me directions to a nearby landmark (to make it easier for me to find my way) and had me over for a casual dinner at her place with one of her friends oh and her two super cute kids. Lets just sat we hit it off straight away. She is one of the most inspiring people I have met and she works hard! and makes great content! She runs not only her own successful bilingual PR firm in Tokyo @vegasprgroup but she also runs her late Japanese husband’s two businesses as a legacy to his memory and what he started. Very cool stuff.
These two places are MUST visit when in Tokyo, located in Shibuya close to Daikonyama. Conveniently all in the same building.
@buy_me_stand is an awesome American-style cafe serving toasted sandwiches and coffee - order downstairs eat in or eat upstairs too where you will also find @sonofthecheese_store a super cool street wear label - Kaito really had a thing for blending retro Americana with Japanese street and skate culture. I never met him but he was a super cool guy!
