This handsome man spent most of his birthday today driving us home after a much needed family beach vacation. But we made sure to stick our toes in the sand one more time, grab some birthday donuts, and a tart cup of coffee in our way out.

I thought I’d get better with writing birthday posts as the years went on, but I think it gets harder and harder to fully capture in words how much we love you and appreciate you.

You’re just wonderful that way.

Happy Birthday, love. I hope you feel adored, cherished, and celebrated every single day. 34 looks good on you 💜

Every now and then, we take pictures like this to remember that before the babies, the home, the jobs, the blessings, the heartaches, and the many, many memories…

…we were just two very young people who happened to walk into a clothing store at the same time, took a chance on each other, and fell in love.

Before we were Mom and Dad. Before we knew what life would ask of us. Before we had built a home, buried a child, raised the children still with us, weathered hard seasons, and collected a lifetime of memories together, we were just Hillary and Josh.

Two people God brought together long before we could have imagined all that He would entrust to us.

And sometimes, I think it’s important to remember that love, too.

Because the greatest gift we could ever give our children is a marriage that rests on the firm foundation of Jesus and cherishes the sacred history we share. I never want to be so busy chasing, hustling, and doing life that we forget to celebrate each other. Our kids deserve to see their parents model that kind of love for them—to know that their parents remember where they came from and cherish the story God has written between them.

You’re my favorite person, my confidante, my biggest cheerleader, my protector, my partner, my very best friend, and the person I’d say “yes” to in every area of the multiverse.

Hi 🙋🏼‍♀️ I’m Hillary.

I was a pediatric DPT before I became a SAHM.

In 2022, I gave birth to our second child after a high-risk pregnancy. Her name was Marsaili, and she had an ultra-rare terminal genetic disorder. I poured my heart and soul into her care for the two years we were blessed to have her.

Then in 2024 just before Marsaili passed, I got pregnant with our third baby.

Now, two years after she died, I’m homeschooling our oldest and chasing a feral toddler around while trying to help my body recover from the effects of years of trauma.

It’s frustrating sometimes.

I don’t recognize my body but I recognize what’s wrong. I remember how strong I felt as an athlete in my teens and twenties. Now I see how much work there is to be done and that can feel overwhelming. I’m trying to balance the clinical side of my brain with the grace I know I deserve.

The struggles make sense AND I know I can’t keep ignoring them. So we’re going to keep showing up one day, one step at a time. 💜

We celebrated Father’s Day quietly off of social media this weekend, but I hope so much that this man knows how appreciated he is every single day.

He is far more than a provider and a protector. He is present, playful, prayerful, and patient.

I have watched this man grieve and lead our family anyway, showing up for us every single day, even when he feels like his cup is running on empty.

Over a decade ago, neither of us knew what “in sickness and in health” really meant. But the day he spoke at Marsaili’s funeral, knowing she deserved a father who showed up even in the hardest moment either of us has ever lived, I saw that vow truly lived out to the fullest extent.

I would choose you in every version of life, every time, babe. I thank God for you today and every day. We love you. We hope you feel honored today and always.

🫐 Blueberry Yum Yum 🫐

We used good grocery money for this y’all 😂 hit ALL the buttons please!

But seriously this recipe is, indeed, yum yum. It’s a staple in our family. And I can’t tell you how much joy it brought me to hear that other people make it! Here’s exactly what I used in this video ⬇️

INGREDIENTS:
1 box of graham crackers (about 12oz); crushed
1.5 sticks (12 tbsp) unsalted butter melted
2 packets Dream Whip
1 cup whole milk
1 cup granulated sugar
1, 8oz block of cream cheese (room temp)
1 tsp vanilla extract
2, 22oz cans blueberry pie filling (you can make this from scratch if you choose to!)

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Crush the graham crackers and mix them with melted butter. Set aside a small amount for garnishing and press the rest in the bottom of a 9x12 glass baking dish.
2. Mix Dream Whip packets, milk, and vanilla on high for about 4 min until soft peaks form.
3. Mix in cream cheese and sugar with dream whip until well incorporated.
4. Using half of cream cheese mixture, carefully make one layer on top of graham cracker crust.
5. Add layer of blueberry filling.
6. Add last layer using the remaining cream cheese mixture.
7. Garnish with remaining graham cracker crumbs
8. Chill for at least 4 hours and serve cold.

I don’t think I’ll ever have the words for that night… but I’ll try.

Two weeks ago, Invisible Inheritance was released into the world… and when I walked onto stage at Social House, I didn’t just see a crowd.

I saw presence.
I saw people who showed up.
I saw people who keep showing up.
I saw support I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Over and over again, people said the same thing:
“I’ve never seen a room filled with this much support.”

And the truth is… I felt it in every hug, every conversation, every tear, every photo, every moment of eye contact across the room.

This book was never meant to just be mine.
It was meant to be ours.

A story of healing.
A story of what we carry… and what we choose to pass on.

To every person who came, who preordered, who shared, who prayed, who believed in this message before it ever had a cover…

Thank you doesn’t feel big enough.

Because what you gave me wasn’t just support.
It was confirmation.
That this message matters.
That this work matters.
That healing doesn’t happen alone.

I will never forget what it felt like to be surrounded by so much belief.

And I promise… I won’t waste it.

Yesterday was the two year anniversary of Marsaili’s passing.

Last year, we wondered how we should spend the day. We wanted to honor her memory in a way that brought us peace and joy. We decided to take a visit to Gibbs Gardens—a place we have loved for years. It just felt right.

When Marsaili died at the very beginning of spring in 2024, it felt strange at first. I love spring, so it felt odd to be grieving such a tremendous loss in a season I love. But spring has always symbolized rebirth and new life.

Two years in, that tension has softened, and our visit to Gibbs Gardens has become a tradition. It serves as a reminder that Marsaili has been made new. She is with the Lord, and that is not a loss we grieve without hope.

As we look in awe at the daffodils and the tulips coming up every year we remember that grief is just love that continues, and that because Jesus has made us new, we live on with faith that we will see her again.

With Easter just around the corner, it’s hard not to feel the weight and the beauty of that promise even more deeply this time of year. As we celebrate the resurrection of Christ and see the ground bringing forth new life, I find strength and courage in the phrase:

“Oh death, where is your sting?”

It is conquered.
Death is defeated.
And it is an honor to remember Marsaili in this way. We can’t wait to keep coming back in the years to come.

Savannah is one of our favorite places to visit with young kids. There’s so much history and character in this town. We actually have a family dream of taking off on a trip across the States one day, and if we do, we will start here. Before we even left the hotel, Liam was already asking when we would be back!

Here’s a list of our favorite places to go when we take a trip to Savannah ⬇️

1️⃣ River Street: We love to walk up and down the river on nice days, and we never make a trip without stopping in a restaurant for some shrimp ‘n grits. Boar’s Head Tavern is one of my favorites. You can also find fun candy shops like Savannah’s Candy Kitchen and River Street Sweets. We haven’t taken the kids on a Riverboat tour yet, but it’s on the to-do list for next time!

2️⃣ Savannah Children’s Museum: We had the best time at the Savannah Children’s Museum. It is located in the ruins of the old Central of Georgia Railway Carpentry Shop in Tricentennial Park. Much of the Children’s Museum and the Railroad Museum (same campus) activities are outdoor activities, but there is also an indoor STEAM Museum if you need to get out of the rain.

3️⃣ Savannah History Museum and Siege of Savannah Exhibit: Both of these are in walking distance of the Children’s Museum and Railroad Museum. The history museum is inside the Central of Georgia Railway shed, and the Siege of Savannah outdoor memorial features historical information on the failed attempt of American and allied forces to take Savannah back from British occupation during the American Revolution.

4️⃣ Tybee Island: This historic little island is a short drive from Savannah and is a gorgeous, quiet place to relax on the beach. The Tybee Lighthouse is incredible.

Things we still want to do/visit when we go back:
- Trolley Tours
- Bonaventure Cemetery
- Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum
- Historic Church Tours
- Wormsloe Historic Site
- Carriage Rides
