This was one of the last photographs I took of Jarvis, at one of his favourite places in Hooe.
He was beautiful to the very end.
Have a lovely Easter.❤️

Today we said goodbye to the beautiful Jarvis after 15 wonderful years. He was a great companion and was loved by so many people, it’s hard to imagine life without him.
Thanks to him and his brother Joe we met so many lovely people in the street, on the beach, at car shows or in pubs and cafes. Some became good friends and others just said hello often with a photo as a memento, but always lovely positive exchanges.
Jarvis could be quite a naughty dog in the nicest of ways and was of course rescued with his brother Joe when they swam off into the horizon in Hastings one day. Thanks to Beach Patrol, the Coastguard and the many boats that came to their rescue so it was not the disaster it might have been although it was the last time swimming without a leash.
Our proudest moment was probably at the Savile Row car show in 2023 when Jarvis spent a couple of days in the back of our car being photographed by hundreds of spectators. The organisers said they had tens of millions of pounds worth of cars on display but the star of the show was undoubtedly Jarvis.
Thank you to everyone who has said hello over the years and to Senlac vets who helped Jarvis through his stroke and other health issues.

Today is #worldstrokeday but it’s not only humans that get strokes. Jarvis had his stroke in January and has made a reasonable recovery but still has symptoms like the tilted head and constantly veering to the left as a result of his horizon appearing distorted. He has also lost some cognitive ability and sadly has completely forgotten how to swim which was his favourite thing. But he’s still happy and enjoying life!🥳
We also have several human friends as young as 50 who have also had strokes. It’s more common than you might think with 1 in 4 of us at risk of stroke in our lifetime.

Therefore it’s worth remembering the signs and symptoms of a stroke;

The main symptoms of stroke can be remembered with the mnemonic FAST.

FAST stands for:

Face – the face might drop on one side, the person may not be able to smile or their mouth may have dropped, and their eyelid may droop
Arms – the person may not be able to lift both arms and keep them there because of arm weakness or numbness in one arm
Speech – they might slur their speech or it might be garbled, or the person may not be able to talk at all despite appearing to be awake
Time – it’s time to phone 999 immediately if you see any of these signs or symptoms.

Bedford Summer Sessions 2025 are well under way, with a number of memorable nights already having taken place over the last week. Simple Minds kicked off this year's concert series, joined by the timeless Alison Moyet, before Rag'n'Bone man brought his soulful vocals to the park with a headline set the following night. Things then took a classical shift last Sunday for the return of the much-loved Proms in the Park.

The second run of concerts started last night, with a line-up that epitomised the synth and new-wave revolution of the 1980's, headlined by the legends that are The Human League

Euthanasia….
I am having a conversation every day or two with people pointing out that Jarvis is not walking that well and indirectly suggesting that “it’s time”. I can see them coming by now and bat them off with “he’s had a stroke but he’s getting better”.
My own view is that as long as Jarvis is happy and enjoying life then why would I want to terminate it? Is it for me to decide if and when he lives or dies unless he is in terrible discomfort? Because he’s slow, out of balance, not behaving like a cute puppy? This is life surely?
But this then leads to the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill which I personally think is a good idea (totally respect alternative views) but will this then lead to similar conversations? Will some people replicate this clumsy, thoughtless and ultimately hurtful behaviour on humans on the high street and elsewhere demanding them to justify their existence?
Just a thought….
