A few days ago I found what I thought was an interesting woman to follow: over 70, fashionable, thought provoking quotes, an upcoming book, bold, unapologetic, 60,000+ followers. But the more I read the more something seemed off. I looked at the disclaimer on the photos: some AI has been used to edit photos, i.e. PhotoShop. That was it, nothing more. Looked up when the account started: three months ago. Then I searched online. Five minutes yielded this information: she is a fabricated AI character. I noticed a few people I know who were following her, honestly thinking she was the real deal. I reached out to let them know. I blocked the account and now I am not allowed to mention the name or my posts don’t go through. One of the more frustrating aspects was the book is dropping soon and many were offering congratulations. Do we really want to be supporting the wisdom put forward in an AI written book on ageing?
I guess my warning is this: watch who you are following. As AI becomes more sophisticated this will happen more. The fakes improve.
In the meantime follow real women’s accounts of being 50, 60, 70, 80+. They are the ones who have actual lived wisdom. Don’t let a couple of creators get your hard earned money duplicitously. And Meta, do better at labelling.
I have attached some of the multiple accounts of actual women who have much to share: fashion, wisdom, world views, life lessons. Some are larger accounts. Some smaller. None are AI. And these are only a few. Please do your homework.

I read this phrase a few days ago and it spoke to me. “Beauty doesn’t fade it evolves.” Our definition of it needs to as well. There is beauty in the process. I’m learning to accept the changes, the wrinkles, the scars, the softness, the texture. And I have had a lot to accept. Not just the changes cancer made in my body, but the changes ordinary life makes.
Why are we are erasing half of our lives by believing the beauty we have when we are young and unchanged is the only acceptable one?

👸In the Raw: Question for the Ladies— Do you remember a time when you looked at an older woman (especially in industries where looks matter) and felt you had the advantage because of your youth?

Aging has given me a revised perspective. On a purely aesthetic level, my concern, for example, of crepey arms and legs during my 50’s was a complete waste of time. Attempting to hide “flaws” by covering myself up slowly gave way to an understanding that this is where my body is at now; bring on the tank tops!
Women judging women. Aging has given me the fortitude to be confident in the face of criticism and purposefully cruel comments.

Three trends are illuminating: comparisons such as, "I look better/younger than you”; discounting what one does not approve of such as, "You can’t accept aging”; and excusing bad behavior on a public IG page such as, "This page is public, so I can write whatever I want.”

True, but why enter “Mean Girl” territory with cruel words intended to hurt?
