Let me tell you something important: Shea Salinas is a really good man, and Julie Salinas is a really good woman. They showed up at our church when we were a few months old and jumped in. Shea served on our Elder Team for 8 years, 4 months, and 3 days…giving sacrificially of his time and energy to make our church great. Scripture tells us to honor such men. It was a joy to honor my friends as Shea now steps off of our board. THANK YOU, Shea and Julie!

22 years into marriage, I’m so in love with Taylor. It was fun to marry Wesley & Esther yesterday, and to enjoy our marriage. Men, do all you can to marry young, marry well, and enjoy life with your wife. We can’t believe our 3 sons will be launched and we’ll be empty nesters in 3.5 years. Date your wife!

“May you enjoy the wife of your youth” -Proverbs 5:18

I am in awe and overwhelmed in the best way by all the outpouring of love from so many wonderful family and friends in this season. Abel and I have been incredibly blessed with the kindness and generosity of so many people who love us. It is such a beautiful experience to see others rejoicing with us and sharing in God’s goodness and our happiness. Thank you to the friends who drove miles to celebrate, planned events, shared gifts, and spoke blessings and prayers over us. 💕 We are 13 days away and ecstatic to be married very soon. 🎉

8/16/2025 = Celebrating 22 years of adventurous marriage!

We were 24 and 23 and we knew we loved Jesus, loved each other, wanted to build a family, wanted an adventure together, wanted to have fun, and wanted to grow and change and heal. Now we’re 46 and 45, and though we still have the stupidest fights in the world, we’re having a blast at this thing called marriage. When I do weddings I always read this quote because it describes us, describes what a good marriage does 👇

“Marriage, even under the very best of circumstances, is a crisis—one of the major crises of life—and it is a dangerous thing not to be aware of this. Whether it turns out to be a healthy, challenging, and constructive crisis or a disastrous nightmare depends largely upon how willing the partners are to be changed, how malleable they are...We are not simply moving in with someone we think it might be fun to live with. Rather, we are giving our prior assent to a whole chain reaction of trials, decisions, transformations, and personal cataclysms which, once they are done with us, may leave us changed almost beyond recognition.”

I love you, Taylor!

Tradition! Our 15th July at the lake. Our sons have grown up here, and so have we. Cumulatively, we’ve lived over one year of our lives here. We are different and better because of how this tradition has shaped us. Start somewhere, even if it’s just a weekend away, to build a tradition of a different place, slower pace, and plenty of space to rest and recalibrate as a family.
