Fungi 2025 was a huge success! I was so excited and grateful to be able to present my work at @bwacgallery with such amazing artists like @zhenia.valerie and @ms.botanical, everyone’s work is incredible and I cannot express what an impact this had on me. What an amazing time, I tried mushroom tea and cookies from @bkmushroom and back home I went to my favorite home town dance floor to celebrate. What a day. What an honor. Thank you all so much allowing me to witness such creative and wonderful minds and mediums, and being able to participate was a dream ❤️❤️❤️

The specialty mushroom and mycelium markets are still in their infancy but the allures are myriad: Fast-growing, they can be produced at scale without a large agricultural land footprint, they are biodegradable and compostable, and they are nutritious.
•
Whether in the beverage aisle, the fitting room or online, new brands have just a moment to convey how their product is different from others. Whether foams, textiles, leather or food, the more disruptive and innovative the product is, the more incumbent upon the company the explanation to prove its authenticity.
•
As mushrooms and mycelium products displace or outcompete traditional materials and products, there will be pushback. In the way the plastics, oil and forestry industries worked to criminalize hemp in 1937 because it was feared as a competing construction material, the meat industry has launched a significant campaign to discredit the health and sustainability advantages of plant- and mushroom-based meat alternatives.
•
Time, as the vast network of mushrooms that has persevered for millennia has proven, will tell.

Botanical illustrator @ms.botanical and Avery wandered the forest in search of Jack-o-lanterns (Omphalotus illudens) to attempt to experience their bio-luminescence. She is exploring ways to illustrate the internal glow of these fascinating fungi! #collarcitymushrooms #mushroomart #drawingmushrooms #bioluminescence #glowingmushrooms

Needle felted mushroom workshops with @malloryzondag are underway and Mallory has added even more spots!! 🍄💫 As part of “Entangled Threads,” Mallory’s fungi-focused community art project, she is hosting a series of free workshops now through August.

Workshop participants will have the opportunity to contribute their mushroom to a “living log” sculpture, where Mallory will add community-made mushrooms to a log sculpture that she’s made. The final sculpture will be unveiled at Arthur’s at 6PM on Friday, August 23rd, when we will also host a knowledge share with local forager @zacherysuflita.

These workshops have been in super high demand, but Mallory has just added a few more spots to each date, so hurry over to her website to snag a spot!
