On 27 September, The Standard, Ibiza hosted an intimate dinner on the roof at UP for Raul Lopez, founder and creative director of the New York label LUAR, to celebrate the launch of LUAR x The Standard. Dalt Vila sat above the tables, and the guests came from fashion, art and culture.
For Lopez, The Standard has always been a place where different worlds meet, and he built LUAR on the same idea. “We’re both creating spaces for people to be themselves,” he says.
So for LUAR’s first swimwear, he went straight to the hotel’s signature colour. The result is a single brief in The Standard’s sunshine yellow, the yellow you see across the property, finished with LUAR’s monogram hardware. It stays in the hotel’s boutique on Vara de Rey for one month.

I don’t know about you, but all these headlines about AI over the last few days have left me feeling kinda weird.

I’ve been thinking a lot about all the distinctly human activities that I’ve done over the last few months - and it made me realise that the reason I have had such an enjoyable summer is precisely because I have found myself surrounded by lots of lovely human beings enjoying lots of very human experiences.

I really think the best antidote to AI anxiety is to go and have a nice time with your pals and your family. It’s good for the soul.

Very lucky that this summer has included spending lots of time with lots of top tier humans; we’ve had weddings, birthday celebrations, Wimbledon finals, choir performances, Scissor Sister gigs, Eclipses, Arsenal games, Radio 2 In The Park…and a lot more.

Go and enjoy being around other humans! AI can’t replicate that!

I only seem to have photos of half the guests from the party last night. Darn. And half of these are on loan from other people (thank you @meg_shirayama and @maurvalance). I was just busy having a really nice time (and also being reminded by the brilliant @thamesandhudson team that I should be signing books).

Sanctum - At Home With the Uncanny made its way into the world with three floors full of some of my favourite humans at @agnesb_officiel. Thank you everyone for coming and being fabulous and so supportive. I am so lucky to have such brilliant friends 🖤
