“ I wish I had 3 months of summer vacation.…”

What it actually is a checklist of tasks, feeling vigilant on vacation (if you do take one) and likely additional work for other avenues of other income. And trying to get some rest in there. But at this point in the summer, many educators still feel exhausted, and that’s worth sitting with instead of explaining away.

A body that spent ten months in survival mode doesn’t recover on the timeline a three month calendar promises.

The first weeks are the crash, the long sleep that still isn’t deep enough. What comes after is less talked about, the stretch where you feel worse instead of better, because the body is finally being honest about what it carried since September.

In 2020, I hosted the Make Me Over Again Conference.

It all started with a vision.

I had no money. No detailed plan. Just a “yes” to what God was calling me to do.

God provided everything I needed. He sent people to help with the planning, the finances, and even the building where we would host the conference. What began as a simple act of obedience became a room filled with more than 100 people hungry for God.

Looking back, the name Make Me Over Again was more prophetic than I ever realized.

That same year, the world changed.

COVID-19 shut everything down. My mother went home to be with the Lord. My life was turned completely upside down. I went from standing before a packed conference to navigating a global pandemic, grieving one of the greatest losses of my life, and giving birth to my fifth child at 42 years old.

I delivered my baby wearing a mask during the pandemic and, for the first time after four previous deliveries, without an epidural. Before I could fully process becoming a new mother again, I was preparing for my mother’s funeral just before Christmas.
Here’s what I want you to know. there is hope.

Healing is possible.

God still restores broken hearts. He still makes beauty from ashes. He still makes all things new.

As we prepare for Beauty & the Bible 2027, I realize that God wasn’t just preparing a conference—He was preparing me. Every tear, every trial, every setback, and every victory has become part of my testimony.

My oldest was in her room where we heard a scream. We came upstairs and couldn’t find her until we realized she was covered by her clothes 😂 the rack of clothes fell on top her and she literally needed our help to get out lol
