We're losing skills humanity spent centuries perfecting. Preserving heritage trades and crafts is critical. These items are built to last of heirloom quality. Buy it once and pass it on to the next generation. The Lost Trades Fair showcases these skills annually.

I really loved spending time with @themagiclanternsociety last month, and I'm already excited for the next conference!! (In 2 years, but I'm ready already).

Beautiful work, incredibly nice people.

Special thanks to @ntbtstm for recommending really good Toronto coffee (not pictured)

🎇 The Grand Magic Lantern Gala 🎇 at the 2026 Magic Lantern Society Convention! A Tribute to Joseph Boggs Beale with fabulous performances by Dr. Terry Borton & Deborah Borton, Beth & Mark Ayres, Matt Schnittker, Dick Moore, Joel Schlemowitz & Musical Accompaniment by Rashaan Allwood. The Town Hall was packed, and the cool spring evening air was electric with the brilliance of the performers! We laughed, we cried, and we were left in awe as we were transported back to the stories and illusions of the 19th century ⏳🖤

Some of the incredible presentations from Day 2 of the Magic Lantern Society Convention! Slide 4: Suzanne Wray sharing the history of American Natural History Museum’s employee who carried educational lantern slides across the city by motorcycle… how fabulous is that. Day 3 is under way! 🦉🖤

Finally sharing some photos from the wonderful and spooky @artdeco_la event “Vintage Hallowe’en Revelry at the Oviatt Penthouse” on October 20th (it’s been a busy crazy whirlwind since). I brought some of my #vintagecostume collection of mostly 1920s-30s #vintageHalloween for display as part of the attractions. We added vintage decorations and held a costume contest with prizes for each of the three timed admission groups, and I judged the “Most Authentic Vintage” category giving a gift certificate for the shop. Besides touring the most #artdeco venue that is hard to get into (above #CicadaClub if you don’t know!), there was also ghost stories about the building from @alexanderoviatt, a magic lantern show, a seance performance by @thecosmicromantics, custom spirited cocktails and treats, etc. It was all a great time, raised funds for preservation, and got to meet some delightful folks in one of my favorite places. Thank you to all involved and to everyone that participated! 🌛 See the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles for all the many photos, with photography by Dave Welch of Photos With Class, @thistleandpoppyphoto and @jedijenzo ✨ #vintageevent #artdecosociety #losangelesdeco #papermoonvintage
