On SpelHouse Love: What a beautiful night with my SpelHouse family in D.C. The weather was just cool enough to make it clear that summer is in the rearview. We met for wings and things at @marcuscooks ‘ elegant, bi-level @yardbirdrestaurants .

After, with the whisper of crisp autumnal wind at our backs, we tucked into @nedsclubwashingtondc—a glamorous private club with sweeping views of the White House—for a bit of live music and a nightcap.

As I contemplated my return to Chennai, I was overcome with a deep sense of gratitude for our #SpelHouse friendships, and for the chance, each day, to share love and build community with these talented, passionate, and deeply caring human beings.

This fall will bring many new adventures in Asia, but last night, there was nowhere I would rather have been than home.

How it all started….Thank you #capitaljazzfest ! My first time hosting such a huge event in my hometown and it couldn’t have gone any better. Friday I was honored to host the opening show with @chrisettemichele @anthonyhamiltonofficial and OMG MFN @teedramoses who i thank for a much needed sista moment of lovin and comfort 💋💋. In the words of @kindredthewife “it’s black women for me “ 🥲. And my daddy and mommy got to see me do my thing at home! Not to mention, but i gotta, that my #spellhouse family chose this show to celebrate my super brilliant fam, @emartrich bday! Y’all’s level of bougie inspires me every day 🤣🤣🤣Thank yall for loving me for so long! I know it ain’t been easy!😂😂😂 #CAU doah 👀😂.
