National Coaches Week Coach Highlight: Gary Pallett

Anyone who has trained with Gary Pallett knows just how much he brings to the sport.

Gary is the kind of coach who will push athletes to reach their potential, analyze every stat he can get his hands on, and still be there with encouragement when things get tough. Over the years, he has made an incredible impact on Triathlon Manitoba’s community particularly through his work with young athletes as they pursue goals ranging from their first major competition to the Canada Games and beyond.

It’s hard to put into words what Gary means to the athletes he coaches, but some of Manitoba’s elite athletes gave it a shot:

“I would be amiss if I didn’t address my coach Gary Pallett from the Manitoba Triathlon Club. Gary is a brilliant coach, who will never give up on an athlete with potential.”

Another athlete shared how Gary helped set them on their triathlon journey:

“I would not have found myself in triathlon today if Gary had not offered me the many opportunities that he did. From encouraging me to come out to a few workouts in 2020, to informing me on a Canada Games opportunity in 2021, and finally helping aid my transition into the sport of triathlon over the course of 2022 and 2023.”

And another described Gary as a coach who is always willing to learn and evolve:

“In the time I have known Gary he has shown himself to be selfless, putting his athletes and their training above many things. He has also proven himself to be a lifelong learner in the sport, always being open to new information and ideas while staying true to his own methods.”

Gary’s impact can be seen not only in the athletes he coaches today, but in the many Manitoba athletes he has helped develop toward the international and Olympic levels.

So this National Coaches Week, we’re saying a big #ThanksCoach to Gary for everything he has done, and continues to do, for Triathlon Manitoba.

Part of Canada's next wave of long-course triathlon talent, Manitoba's Blake Harris is already putting up 70.3 times that have the rest of the world paying attention.

I caught up with Blake in Park City, Utah, where he's putting the finishing touches on his preparation for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. We talked training, racing, life at altitude, and what it takes to go from short-course athlete to one of Canada's fastest rising stars.

Oh, and somehow a polar bear made its way into the conversation.

What a weekend at the 2026 Canadian Elite National Championships in Victoria! 🇨🇦💪

Mikellen Ellis and Nolan Law represented Windburn at the national level against the fastest athletes in the country! In the elite individual races, Mikellen took 19th in her semifinal before placing 5th in the B Final. Nolan laid it all out on the course as well, finishing 19th in his semifinal and 10th in the B Final against a super stacked national field!

Nolan finished off the weekend racing Leg 2 for Team Manitoba in the Mixed Relay, helping the team lock down 14th overall.

Awesome job to both of these athletes for representing Windburn on the national stage! 🏁⚡️

❗️Calling all endurance athletes❗️

We are excited to offer our off-season strength training program designed specifically for endurance athletes / triathletes who spend their summers participating in running, biking and/or swimming events!

There has been lots of research showing that endurance athletes benefit significantly from prioritizing strength training in their off-season. Integrating strength and power training allows endurance athletes to enhance performance, correct imbalances, and improve body composition.

We’ve got spots available and we are starting NEXT WEEK (Sept. 9)!

Our endurance group strength program will run for a 15-week commitment period, and will be Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6am.

❗️No experience necessary, and you do not need to be a CrossFit member to join in❗️

For more information, reach out to ana@undefeatedperformance.ca or send us a DM!
