To close out our show, we’re proud to present a limited edition zine featuring five questions answered by Toussaint Rosefort and Maria Ivancsics. Recording (How It Makes Me Feel) is open today and tomorrow, 1-6PM.

from the press release:
Mom and Dad (American Gothic) (2026), an installation of two pieces of sewn fabric hung on steel bars, further exemplifies Rosefort’s interest in recording the sensations of his world. Mom, the lilac fabric, hangs light and flowing, while Dad hangs stiff and turgid, its bars boxier and its fabric thicker than that of its counterpart. Drawing from his sensory memories of time with his parents, Rosefort arranges worldly materials to approximate a physical record of the feelings left behind.

“Representative images have a tumultuous relationship with human sight, Culturally we often take a simple position of a good image and sight are more or less the same. I’ve been trying to adjust both my looking and painting to face something we take for granted, where limits of an image are actually opportunities.

The way that Giotto renders space is so shallow, that depth
reinforces the image’s flatness. Rounded figures and the perspective of architecture push up against the picture plane. The tension is like pressurized air. A structure becomes more generative than restrictive.” -Maria Ivancsics

Recording (How It Makes Me Feel) is open this weekend, Saturday and Sunday 1-6PM

hello summer toilers and enjoyers,

please join us at 126 13th Street in sunny Brooklyn, NY THIS Thursday for DUAL OPENINGS at Field of Play Gallery and Tappeto Volante Projects!!

I will be showing a sweet candy-like painting alongside exciting work by fellow members at Field of Play. So proud to show with so many great friends and rigorous artists/curators.

On the other side of the wall, I have the immense honor of presenting work by Toussaint Rosefort and Maria Ivancsics. Toussaint and Maria are both very serious and thoughtful artists, and it’s been an absolute joy to curate their works together and relish in an electric painterly dialogue grounded in phenomenology, spatial rendering, and emotional footprints. We are so proud of this show!

This summer has been one of the busiest and most rewarding periods of my life here in the city, and I owe much of that activity to collaborations and joint pursuits with cherished friends. I hope to see you all Thursday for a beer and some looking!!💌💟

Join us Thursday, August 6th for Recording (How It Makes Me Feel), a two-person show presenting work by Maria Ivancsics and Toussaint Rosefort, curated by Kate Sherman.

Across mediums and through each of their distinct personal visual languages, Ivancsics and Rosefort seek to record their experiences and the questions, feelings, and dynamics that arise from them. Both artists are interested in the ability of the picture plane to capture phenomenological data and memories, and shown together, their works relate and contrast sharply.

Ivancsic’s spatial and kaleidoscopic oil paintings treat their subjectivity as a shimmering memory of place, whereas Rosefort’s concise and symbolic paintings and installation work draw viewers into conceptual maps of spaces, textures, and circumstances. Together, these artists demonstrate the fortitude of the maker who is determined to materialize and identify exactly what they’re feeling.

Opening reception Thursday, August 6th from 6-8PM, at Field of Play, 126 13th Street, Brooklyn NY 11215
