This weekend, we had the chance to co-sponsor the @mtncraftfilmfest and lead a workshop on something we spend a lot of time thinking about at Coat of Arms: how live action, animation, design, and a whole bunch of people come together to make a film. We shared a little of our process, talked about collaborating across disciplines, navigating clients and stakeholders, and using new tools intentionally. It was a joy to open up some of the beautiful mess behind finished work. Mostly, though, it just felt good to be in a room celebrating filmmakers and storytellers making work in West Virginia and across Appalachia. Every year, we team up with an Appalachian artist to design our film festival poster. This year, we’re excited to have @http.nicolelegrow fulfill the role! Nicole LeGrow is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Huntington, WV. An alum of Marshall University, LeGrow’s skills range from ceramics, to drawing, to printmaking, and more. Our team fell in love with her expressive style inspired by traditional tattoos, and from that, our 2026 poster was born! Join us for our 4th annual festival at the historic @robinson_grand this October.
