Today, we brought our Small Girl home.

It’s hard to believe she’s really gone. Our time with her was short, but the love she brought into our lives will stay with us forever.

I’m so grateful for the wonderful friends who have surrounded us with love and sent us these incredibly thoughtful gifts.

I also want to thank everyone at the @pspca for the kindness, compassion and dedication they show animals like Small Girl every single day. To the staff and volunteers who loved her, believed in her and never gave up on her, thank you.

Small Girl came to us at 15 years old, after spending so much of her life waiting for a home. And while we wish we’d had more time together, I wouldn’t trade a single day with her.

If there’s one thing I hope her story inspires, it’s for more people to consider adopting or fostering senior dogs. So many wonderful older dogs spend their final years in shelters, overlooked simply because of their age. They still have so much love to give, and they deserve to know what it feels like to be part of a family.

Our hearts are still healing, but I hope that soon we’ll be ready to open our home to another longtime shelter resident who deserves a second chance.

Until then, we’ll keep loving and missing our girls.

The Giant’s Causeway is 100% worth the day trip from Dublin ☘️🌊

A little history first: the Causeway was formed by volcanic activity around 60 million years ago and is made up of roughly 40,000 interlocking basalt columns. Irish legend says the giant Finn McCool built a path across the sea to Scotland.

How to get there from Dublin without a car:
🚆 Take the train from Dublin Connolly to Belfast Grand Central (about 2 hours)
🚆 From Belfast, take the train toward Coleraine (about 1 hours.)
🚌 From Coleraine, hop on the Ulsterbus 402 toward the Giant’s Causeway/Ballycastle. The bus ride is about 30–40 minutes and drops you right near the visitor center.

You can obviously book one of the many organized tours from Dublin, which makes the day much easier.

It’s been hard to put into words how amazing the first half of summer has been, but i’ll try.

if you know me, you know Philadelphia has had my heart since I moved here when I was 18. I’ve known since then how special this place can be if you lean in, but to watch the world learn that via 6 world cup matches, 39 days of @fwc26philly fan fest, an MLB all star weekend, a 4th of July, and of course the Smeriglio-Martinez family shrimp boil 😉 has been nothing short of incredible.

For me track and field has been more than a sport. It's something that holds an extremely close spot in my heart. The lessons I have learned from this sport have molded who I am today. I am grateful for everyone who supported me through injuries and setbacks. Grateful for my teammates and coaches who helped create core memories that I will remember for the rest of my life. Grateful for my family that has been with me through it all, and has seen me progress and grow. And forever grateful for the man above, ✝️ my lord and savior Jesus Christ, for making this all possible.
