YOU CALLED is an 80+ page sci-fi and fantasy anthology bringing together 20+ amazing creators from Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Zimbabwe and more. We’re talking talents who have worked with Disney, Netflix, have been Eisner nominated... what we’re trying to say is you’re in fantastic and very capable hands!

We have learned so much from each other as a team both by working together and through our stories which carry a piece of each one of us. The kickstarter launch is right around the corner. If you’re not already on the list, click the link in our bios and get notified as soon as it “kicks” off 🙂‍↕️✨ #comic #anthology #africancomics #africanartists #team

Decolonizing our bookshelves, one page at a time. 🇺🇬✨📚

As we count down to Uganda’s 64th Independence Day this week, we are celebrating the real keepers of our history, culture, and future, our Ugandan authors.

True independence isn’t just a date in 1962; it’s the freedom to tell, write, and read our own stories in our own voices.
Celebrate Independence Week by adding an Ugandan masterpiece to your TBR list!

This how our @etancomics editor Beserat was moving on them editorial check ins. Lethal but elite with the cuts and notes. Now although a lot of bits were left on the cutting floor, we ultimately ended up with a story that did everything we hoped it would. Huuge shoutout to him for being an incredible and invaluable source of direction on this project… (you know what’s coming)… whose kickstarter launches next month. - Share, Like, Repost and help us get the word out about the anthology (exaggerate as much as you like, we can match the hype 😎)
- Also, keep an eye out for some juicy sneak peeks from the making of (swipe for the very first of many 😋)

Cover art by the amazing @salimbusuru 🙌🏾✨

Please note that @mugabs capacity for social media engagement is currently limited due to an ongoing flare 🩵 he also had the good sense to choose a nice Ugandan song (represent!) for this post otherwise you guys know I would thrown some Amapiano on it 😭

🙏 🙌 😔 A tribute post for @studiooo89 before they close their physical location on Monday and transform into @kindworldcharity 🫡

I first visited probably 10 years ago, and for 9 I've regularly performed or volunteered there in many capacities across both Tomken and Eglinton locations, teaching workshops, hosting the YTGA Open Mic series, attending Speak Out events by @rahmashere, doing sound for @saugapoetry, featuring at @exproseyourself or Bridging the Border events and more 👏🫂

I've met, performed alongside, and worked with many great artists there such as (but certainly not limited to) @mugabs @truthisellipsis @ianketeku @eeshaverse @amylioupoetry @itslisashen @itsnotquart @tahira_rajwani @pujitas.co @sajedamanzoor @michellehillyard @paigekapinski @dannylwin @mythoughtsrhyme_nadia @catenziie
