Most people see a conference. We see a thousand stories happening at once.

DISCON 101 was a whirlwind. Four days in Entebbe filled with leaders, big moments, and even bigger ideas. Our team at @stoneagepictures was there to catch it all—from the keynote speeches to those split-second exchanges that happen between the sessions.

We believe every story deserves to be told, and told well. Whether it’s events, films, documentaries, or commercials, because storytelling is our DNA.

We worked together with @enclavemediahub to bring this story to life.

FRIENDS!! We need your help 🎬

If you’ve been following along, you’ll see the cinema is really taking shape and we’re so close to opening our doors.

But… we’ve hit a few unexpected (but essential) costs: fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fire certification, serious soundproofing, and a backup generator to keep the films rolling no matter what.

So we’ve had to increase our fundraising target to £8,000 (40M UGX).

If you believe in what we’re building: Kampala’s first independent cinema & café! please donate whatever you can and help us spread the word. This is YOUR cinema 💛

And… someone MUST know Idris Elba?!

A walk through the cinema with @firstloicyouknow 🎬✨

Our programming manager extraordinaire — but like everyone at Aftersun, he wears many hats. From curating the films to shaping our marketing and setting the overall cinema vibes… Loic is at the heart of it all.

This is just the beginning 🍿

It's exciting that an initiative which started very small by a team of Ugandans has grown into something bigger and keeps going international. When they held the 3rd edition in Kampala last year, the organisers promised that there would be events in different parts of the world to serve the good cinema.

On the 29th March, @matatufilmstage held an edition in London and I must say, IT WAS A SUCCESS. I saw audience feedback and I felt proud.

Congratulations to the team @ali.musoke @mugumedavidson and @patience_asaba_katushabe

Uganda’s film industry is full of BRILLIANT people. We were invited to a recent @usembassyuganda gathering, and the excitement around our cinema was amazing to see.

A space where filmmakers can screen their work, run workshops in makeup, sound, animation and screenwriting, and meet fellow film lovers over drinks and delicious food.

So lovely to see @raymondmalinga and @robinmalinga from the AMAZING @creatures_animation — we would LOVE to screen @kundaandfriends for our little cinema fans....

And @shill_artmakeup, who creates incredible special effects - if you’re making a horror movie, she’s your lady!

Always beautiful to see filmmaker and film club regular @mugumedavidson from @matatufilmstage. Good luck in London!

Great to meet regional film associations like Elgon Filmmakers — Michael Jabbi @jabbilive.

We even met the beautifully stylish @gyaza_elton a fashion designer for the film industry.

And filmmaker/producer extraordinaire @haydwinds it was SO lovely to meet you and hear your passion for Uganda’s film industry. @bwerufilms

AND it was an honor to hear @kamukamapolly talk so passionately about the film students he lectures @makerere

Thank you to @usembassyuganda for hosting such a great networking event!

Uganda’s film community is bursting with talent, we can’t wait to bring everyone together at Aftersun.

Actor @robiakello lovely to link the dots and meet you!

@dialo_ssekidde screenwriter a pleasure to meet you :)
