Reflecting on our rapidly changing world.

Mulaika, notably the youngest artist to exhibit at the National Art Gallery in 2019, explores themes of impermanence, environmental change, and the human condition.

Inspired by a Malay proverb, 𝑯𝒖𝒋𝒖𝒏𝒈 𝑻𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒌 captures extreme uncertainty while paying homage to the artist’s lineage in Batu Kikir, Negeri Sembilan with subtle Minangkabau Rumah Godang roof forms.

HER VOICES, HER VISION

This International Women's Day, we're shining a light on the women shaping the local art scene with courage, curiosity, and unmistakable vision.

With each bringing her own way of seeing the world, stories take shape and new ideas emerge. Their presence continues to open doors and inspire the next wave of artists. At HARTA, we are proud to have walked alongside these remarkable women, witnessing their craft up close and carrying their work forward together.

Today we celebrate the women who create and shape the future of art.

Mulaika (b. 2003) is an abstract artist based in Kuala Lumpur - her new series on view at The Dia Space is inspired by her recent travels to Terengganu. The works take heavy inspiration from the monsoon season and loosely resemble our familiar Malaysian landscapes.

Awan (8), Mother and Child (5)and A Window in Space (2) are currently available for purchase via The Dia Space. DM @thediaspace for more information.

Beloved online curated hub @diaguild has gone from URL to IRL with a permanent home in the heart of KL. Known as @thediaspace, it promises to celebrate the creative spirit of the Southeast Asian region through art, design, fashion, storytelling, and community events.

Adorning the beautiful space within the historic heritage building are artworks from Malaysian artist @mulaikalov, who speaks to us about her inspiration behind the pieces and what it feels to be The Dia Space’s first artist in residence. Mulaika’s collection of works are available for viewing until March.

Within one of our private dining rooms hangs They Met by Kuala Lumpur–based abstract expressionist Mulaika (@mulaikalov). Quiet yet alive, the work reflects the intimacy that emerges when people gather around a table. Inspired by contemporaneity, the painting mirrors the subtle exchange of energy found in shared meals and conversation.

We welcome you to dine in this intimate setting, where art and togetherness unfold alongside the meal.
