TS Sheraton was 1 of 9 Falstaff Class steam trawlers that were built between the years of 1905 and 1907 by Yorkshire shipwrights Cook, Welton and Gemmel. The Sheraton being finished in 1907 being the last one to be built by the shipwrights. No records were able to be retrieved as to where the boiler, engine and chimney came from, however it is speculated to have been from an engine builder in Hull.
The final vessel was 130 feet long, 23 feet wide and had a 12 foot draft.
As tensions in Europe increased, she was acquired by the Royal Navy in 1914 and was relieved of her fishing duties in favour of coastal patrol and minesweeping in Europe.
Come 1918, the Navy sold her back to her original owners where she resumed duties as a fishing vessel. This was interrupted however by the break out of the Second World War, at which point she was re-assigned as a coastal patrol vessel around the coast of the UK as an early warning for the larger home fleet when a U-boat was spotted.
She also had an active role in the D-day invasion being used a logistics runner for supplies and personnel in the days after the invasion.
Due to the aging design of the vessel, the TS Sheraton was retired, stripped of all military ordnance, painted bright yellow and red and was moored on the north side of the wash in Lincolnshire to be used by the RAF as a target, along with the SS vina.
In April, 1947 a fierce storm broke out and the Sheraton broke free of her mooring and drifted across the wash to end up on the headland between Hunstanton and Old Hunstanton. Although effort were made to recover her, she was designated as scrap and left to rot on the rocks below Old Hunstanton where she still lies today, marking an unfortunate and abrupt end to her decorated military career.
However, the bell was rescued and restored and is used by the Bridleigh Sea Cadets today.

Lovely to be working with the big man again Mr @usainbolt . Three very full days of shooting and he didn’t flinch once. Huge thanks to the gems @epsoneurope @epsonuk for creating a fun and friendly campaign, and for looking after me and the team: @bradleypolkinghorne on lights with @michaelaletang and on digi the mighty @maxcatterall no less. Shout outs to the producers who somehow managed to pull off an impressively ambitious shotlist of motion and stills @wearebrave - @pamelasvamp and Sandy Liddle, supported by Mike and Declan and director the (now legendary icon) @iampeterking too. Very proud of what we achieved with this and I’m super grateful to the many stakeholders for their wisdom throughout the pre-prod and shoot days.
