In this edition of #heatwavewednesday we look at how you keep cool during the day, waiting for night training to start.

For Roger, it’s a healthy dose of shade,
Fresh water and the mister fan. As the thermometer shows, considerably cooler in the kennel than outside and there’s a breeze!

Stay cool peeps

I had the pleasure to take a selfie and give this handsome good boy pets hugs and gifts. I made this custom bowl and picked up some toys/treats as it is well. Thank you @k9_roger & Officer Harwick for keeping our city safe. It's the least I could do. Happy to say I have new friends and the best ones. @murrietapd

Over the weekend Nacho and I competed in the 5th Anual @murrietapd K9 trials. @murrietapd and @paws_4_law_foundation put on an awesome event. With so many awesome K9 teams competing, Nacho and I were pumped to walk away with two 4th place awards. One for Obedience and the other for Agility. As you can see Nacho is really pumped.

👻Murrieta came out in a SCARY good way last night for our first Goodies 4 Goblins and Dark-in-the-Park!

🎃Our trunk or treat and movie in the park event is sure to be an annual tradition thanks to the amazing turnout and fun time had by everyone.

👏There were thousands of little monsters, super heroes, skeletons, themed groups, and more. We think our residents’ creativity is up there with the best!

🍬Let’s keep up that community spirit tonight as residents trick or treat. Be safe and courteous and have lots of fun!

This photo shows K-9 Cezar being wheeled into surgery after valiantly protecting his handler @SDSheriff Deputy Avedesian and the public following a robbery and chase from Lakeside to Murrieta.

This started just before midnight on September 5.

At some point, the suspects started shooting and Cezar was hit in the leg.

Cezar was shot while trying to stop a suspect from carjacking people at the end of the chase.

He likely kept the suspect from getting away and possibly hurting others.

Cezar did as he was trained. He protected his deputy handler, the public and our law enforcement partners.

We want to thank VCA California Veterinary Specialists in Murrieta @vcacvs_murrieta for taking such good care of Cezar.

A vet surgeon removed bullet fragments from Cezar's leg.

He was released from vet care just before 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 6.

Multiple agencies are involved in the investigation.

We are glad none of our partners in @chp_oceanside @chpelcajon @chpsandiego @murrietapd @riversidecountysheriff and our @sdsheriff K-9 Handler Deputies were hurt in the shooting.

A @sdsheriff Deputy saw a man quickly running out of a 7-Eleven in the 10000 block of Lake Jennings Park Rd.

A witness told the deputy the store was just robbed.

The deputy tried to pull over the suspects, but they drove from Lakeside to Murrieta where the shooting happened.

We will provide updates on Cezar and his handler on Tuesday.

This thankful Thursday is dedicated to the hundreds of residents who came to show their support for the 13 service members who lost their lives last week in Afghanistan. We honor them together and we grieve with their families and loved ones.
