MTNL is a collaborative network at the intersection of music and technology, part of Music Tech Europe.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Most of the talk about AI and music technology has stayed with production, distribution and rights. The live sector has had far less of it, even as technology changes how fans find events, how venues run and how artists reach a crowd.
⠀
That gap is the brief for the third Music Technology Workshop from AFEM and Music Tech Netherlands (@musictechnl), on the Friday of Amsterdam Dance Event. The format is hands-on: promoters, venues, agents, managers and live tech companies work in small groups through ticketing and access, audience data for promoters, fan engagement at the venue, and the systems behind booking and touring, then build answers out of tech that already exists.
⠀
Hosted by:
_ Rufy Ghazi (@lady_ruffelin), Music Tech & Research Executive
_ Maarten Walraven, Music Tech Netherlands
⠀
_ Date and time: Friday 23 October, 15:00-17:00
_ Location: FUGA (@fugamusic), Prinsengracht 581-583, 4th floor
⠀
Last year's workshop became an article on Music Industry 3.0, and this year's findings will be published by MUSIC x.

There are 30 places, so please only take one if you can definitely make it. RSVP via the link in our bio.

How might we experience music in the future, and what role will technology play?

During the next MTNL Research event, theo ploeg and Koos Zwaan will introduce speculative design: a method for exploring possible futures rather than predicting one.

In this interactive workshop, participants will work with imagined scenarios to examine how emerging technologies could change music creation, live experiences and distribution. Together, we’ll discuss the opportunities, consequences and choices these futures present.

Organised with the Research Group Innovation in the Music Industry at Hogeschool Inholland and Studio Hyperspace.

📅 Thursday 24 September, 16:00–18:00
📍 Hogeschool Inholland Amsterdam
💙 Free for MTNL members
🎟️ €25 for non-members (Link in Bio)

Drinks afterwards at Bar Baggerbeest 🍻

Spent an incredible day immersed in #musictech amidst the energy of Amsterdam Pride 🌈

Started with the mind-bending media art at @nxtmuseum, then headed over to @cinetolamsterdam for an intimate set by @wethelonestars. The multitalented artist spellbound the room with a story told through music and visuals projected by his own custom VJ agent ✨. A true masterclass in using tech to deepen live connection!

We also got a glimpse of the planned broadcast in @fortnite "Indie Island", which is part of exciting research from @thunderboomr on how indie artists can thrive in gaming spaces 🎮.

Huge thanks to the hosts for the amazing food and the luxurious eye mask for the ride home 🫶

Thanks to everyone who joined last week's MTNLshowcase, and a big thank you to @gijsvanklooster for hosting us.

We spent the evening listening, talking and learning about Dolby Atmos and immersive audio. One of the main takeaways: spatial audio is much closer to everyday listening than many people assume. Atmos is already part of how music can be experienced across headphones, phones, soundbars, cars and other playback environments.

This makes the topic especially relevant for us at Music Tech Netherlands. It sits right between creation, live experience and distribution: how music is made, how it reaches people, and how listeners experience it across devices and environments.

By the end of the evening, stepping back into the regular stereo world felt a little flat. Literally.

March built real momentum.

The Lab of Tomorrow community explored how live experiences are evolving and how technology can amplify their impact, accessibility, and sustainability. At @supernovafest_eu 2026, innovation came to life through an inspiring talk. @bleunuagemusic filled the studio with sound, while students from across Europe joined an international creative design competition @icdchallenge on abandoned camping gear.

Moments like these connect people, sparking inspiration and strengthening collaboration.

Yesterday, Lab of Tomorrow welcomed a vibrant community to explore the future of live music.

In collaboration with @musictechbe and @musictechnl, the session reflected on how live experiences are evolving and how technology can enhance impact, accessibility, and sustainability. A key insight is that audiences increasingly value live experiences that are immersive, purposeful, and aligned with contemporary social issues.

Sincere thanks to the speakers: Daniel Fletcher, @birgitk, @iamseanbradford, Stijn Smet and Femke Blok, as well as to everyone who contributed to the conversation.

Additional thanks to @ckproductions.tv, @arealtechnologies, @superellipse.be, @thomas.de.weerdt, @sonartz.agency, @garconcatering and @teamwork.hospitality for their support during the event.

Next up: 07/05/26, the community talk on circularity. Link in bio.

Let’s keep shaping what’s next, together.

With the support of Tickets for Good and the Royal Embassy of the Netherlands in Belgium.
