Students from several academic programs volunteered for this year’s Valentine's Day virtual dance, an annual tradition allowing opportunities for students to learn more about the diverse group of people they may encounter as future healthcare professionals. Student Services and the College of Health Sciences on our Downers Grove campus hosted local organizations including the South East Association for Special Parks and Recreation, the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association, and the West Chicago High School Best Buddies Program.

“As healthcare practitioners, events like these remind you that clients and patients have lives outside the therapy room or exam room. It is critical to never lose touch with the aspects of life that make us human. This event illustrates that we all have the same needs and wants for friendship, love, human connection, and of course the opportunity to get dressed up and dance," said Clinical Psychology student and Class President Jessica Sheppard, who helped prep pre-packaged craft kits for participants.
