🎃 HALLOWEEN RAFFLE FOR MARI (UK DELIVERY ONLY) 👻

This raffle is doing significantly worse than previous raffles, despite there being some great (and expensive!) prizes. Pls support if you can to make these raffles worthwhile running!

(TW DV) Mari is an oppressed person with severe ME who has been fundraising to escape over 5 years of brutal DV for over a year now. She has finally escaped and just recently moved into her own place! — BUT she urgently needs to meet the full gofundme goal in order to survive alone, hire paid caregivers, and afford essential survival and medical needs.

🎃 To enter:

- Donate £5 per entry or £12 for 3 entries to Mari’s GFM: gofundme.com/marigfm (link in my linktree)
- Send a screenshot DM confirming the donation to @franhaddock_
- *Deadline is midnight 24th October!*
- The goal is to raise $3000 (we’re currently at ~£450)
- Prizes shipped to UK only! (Non-UK can still enter and nominate a UK friend to receive the prizes)

🧡 THE PRIZE:

One person will win:

- @thechocolatesmiths ‘Dr Bradbury’s Compendium of Curiosities’ 13 days of Halloween calendar (worth £75)
- Crochet pumpkin wreath made by @memyselfandcrochet
- The amusables S’mores jellycat (worth £35) donated by @livinglowonspoons
- Chronic illness merch including cards, stickers, a meds diary and a spoonie hat!
- 2 sets of Halloween stickers and Halloween colouring pages from @rana.theartist
- Cute Halloween prints and stickers made by @therealchronicillnesscrafter

We will aim to get the prizes posted out before Halloween but pls remember health limitations can sometimes cause a delay.

For legal purposes this raffle should be considered a prize draw with 1 free entry via post per entrant. Please contact @franhaddock_ if you need more info on this.

MARI IS CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF ESCAPING AND NEEDS AS MUCH SUPPORT AS POSSIBLE! The majority of the funds raised have been used on moving expenses, food and medical expenses as outlined in the GFM.

Mari’s fundraising goal was to reach the GFM total by September 2026. The remaining 45% is urgently needed to cover longterm care and basic needs after the move.

Mari is a DV survivor with severe ME who has been failed repeatedy by instituations that are supposed to protect her.

I often say that autistic life doesn’t come with a handbook for surviving a non-autistic world. But mine came in the form of an Ellen Jones, who taught me everything she knew about navigating a world that was never designed for us and, more importantly, showed me that I would never have to navigate it alone. Like so many in our community, I owe her more than she will ever know.

Text on slides:

N is a marginalised person living with very severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS), after becoming ill in early childhood. They are bedbound and also live with multiple complex co-morbidities. N is simultaneously trying to escape domestic and gender-based violence while living in the SWANA region. For safety reasons, they cannot speak publicly about many aspects of their situation and are currently having to negotiate with their abuser resulting in repeated crashes and further deterioration in health.

Unlike many countries, there is no meaningful disability safety net in the form of carers or welfare payments available to support independent living, and N is completely reliant on paid caregivers to stay live. Financial support is urgently needed to help secure legal protection from their ab*ser, to pay multiple, longterm PAs, and other necessities required to escape the current situation. Please share this post!
Every donation helps move N closer to safety, stability, and access to the care they need to survive.
