Honestly, I am a ‘nobody’ to be posting this. I am still so new to instagram, and don’t know the background like many of yall. Yet what I do know is that by only being here 2 months I can feel the contention and it doesn’t feel like being unified.

I was deeply humbled by Elder Gilbert’s talk and recommitted to teaching truth with love.

I don’t know how much impact i’ll ever make, nor do I care, but I came on here committed to share the gospel, share light, share my trials and how trials are a GOOD THING, and lastly show my children what it means to follow Christ even when it’s not easy.

Feel free to share, like, comment, repost. Hoping everyone who creates gets a chance to reflect.

Why would God stop calling prophets?
This is one of the things about the Restoration that makes so much sense to me because living prophets aren’t a NEW concept—they are God’s pattern throughout scripture.

Every dispensation has had prophets.
Adam was the first prophet. But eventually his posterity fell away. Throughout the Old Testament we see this same pattern again and again: God calls prophets, gives them authority, people reject His teachings, widespread apostasy occurs, and God calls another prophet.

When widespread apostasy occurs, priesthood authority—the authority necessary to administer the ordinances of the gospel—is lost.

And God restores it.

That’s why having a living prophet today matters.
Living prophets are:
• Witnesses of Jesus Christ • Teachers who help us discern truth from error • Holders of priesthood authority—the authority of God • A source of inspired direction for a worldwide Church

This doesn’t mean personal revelation isn’t real. It absolutely is.

It means I believe God loves His children enough to BOTH speak to us individually and provide authorized servants to guide His Church.

“Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” — Amos 3:7
And Paul describes Christ’s Church as “built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone.” — Ephesians 2:20

So no wonder the Church Christ established would have living prophets and apostles.
The Restoration isn’t the claim that God suddenly decided to start calling prophets again because it was a good idea.

It’s the claim that after apostasy, God did exactly what He had done throughout scripture:
He called a prophet. He restored His priesthood. He restored His Church.
The God who spoke through prophets anciently is still speaking today.

Imagine if Nephi, Abinadi, Captain Moroni, Samuel, or Joseph Smith had decided that the cost of obedience was too high?

It's natural to question, to justify, and sometimes even to resist the commandments we're given.

Even Jesus Christ, in Gethsemane, asked three times for the cup to pass from Him. He knew the suffering that lay ahead. He expressed His anguish to His Father. And still, He surrendered His will.

“If ye love me, keep my commandments” requires more than believing in Jesus Christ. It requires the faith to surrender our own will and say, “Not my will, but thine, be done.”

Not just when His will aligns with ours. Not just when obedience makes sense to us. Not just when it's easy.

Faith means trusting Him enough to let His will take precedence over our own.

I don't think there's anything wrong with sharing our stories and experiences with faith. But I do think social media has created a new form of testimony: the "I'm telling you my truth without telling you how it's working for me" testimony.

We need to be careful not to let someone's half-told testimony justify our own walk with Jesus.

An experience can be sincere without being a complete picture of the gospel. And someone's personal conclusion isn't a substitute for God's revealed truth.

The Church being under condemnation does NOT mean God’s priesthood authority has been taken away, that His temples are no longer valid, or that His ordinances have lost their power. Condemnation calls us to repentance, especially when unfaithfulness and a lack of Christlike fruits are present. Jesus taught us to recognize fruits through love, charity, kindness, and service to others. Yes, serious wrongdoing and corruption must be acknowledged and condemned, especially when children are harmed, and individuals must be held accountable. But their sins do not automatically invalidate the authority God restored through prophets and apostles. You cannot cherry-pick scripture to condemn the Church while ignoring the bigger picture of the restored gospel. This isn't about hatred or blindly defending people... it's about understanding that we can demand accountability without rejecting what God has established. The answer is not to abandon His Church, but to repent, become more like Christ, and live the fruits of His Spirit.

Ive been stumped because Ive been trying to understand the companionship of the Holy Spirit and how it compares with feeling the influence of the Spirit.

Well Elder Bednar answered my question on Sunday during his talk

Elder David A. Bednar taught:
“All gospel ordinances and covenants must be sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise.”
And that ratifying, sealing power isn’t something we receive once and then forget about.
As Elder Bednar explained, it comes over time as we “repent sincerely and consistently, honor our covenants, and yield our hearts to God.”
I’ve come to understand that receiving the Holy Ghost is meant to be continuous.”

So do they feel it? yes absolutely. Yet the blessing of having it as a gift via laying on of hands allows a two way relationship where the spirit changes us if we allow him to.
